Opportunity to improve yourself: Vijayadashami

Day after day, day after day, day after day, year after year. On Happy Birthday, we don't even realize we're a year younger. This is because we are all festive. Happiness has merged in our blood. On the day of the festival we wake up with smiling eyes.

Yet we still fall short in recognizing and valuing the core of the festival. The festival means we just eat-drink-dress the mind, rituals, hills-dots and appearances and pomp. There is nothing special about this. We push our age and experience into Honcia. Dussehra is one such festival which is an opportunity to conquer oneself. Parrots do not win by reading or chanting.

We have been enjoying this festival with tradition in the joy that Lord Durga defeated the demonic power and freed the people from fear and terror. Over the years, we have come to know the story associated with it. Also, we have not yet been able to free ourselves from our torment. Coke hurts ourselves more than anyone else. Remember living alone is not a business!

Both Rama and Ravana reside in us. We all show Rama and hide Ravana, pampali. Dirt is not just garbage. Man too is scorched by the filth of the whole mind. Greed, greed, lust, selfishness, jealousy, ostentation, hypocrisy, corruption do not come higher than covering up these and many other vices like Ravana and wearing true-false masks. We all forget the reality associated with the festival because of the sense of fun and performance. They do not celebrate Dussehra just by eating fafda jalebi and burning the idol of Ravana.
