The first promoter of the Sikh sect: Shri Guru Nanak Dev


- According to a popular belief, the country which got the name Hindustan by Nanakdevji. The words 'Hindustan' were uttered by Guru Nanak Devji during the invasion of foreigners in about 15 AD, such as,

'Khurasan Khasmana Kia,

Hindustan Daraia.

This year marks the 9th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, the pioneer saint of the Sikh sect, who laid the foundation of mass unity and brotherhood in the medieval nation and instilled the sacrament of hard work ethic in the people.

Guru Nanakdev was born in Kartak Sud Poonam Samvat 18 i.e. in the year 18 AD in Talwandi village of Punjab to father Kalyandas and mother Tripta. The name of his elder sister 'Nanki' is derived from 'Nankana Saheb of the village'.

His teachings and Ranavani are stored in 'Gurugranth Sahib'. His disciples were called Sikhs or 'Sikabs'. After touring the world, Guru Nanak returned to Punjab. There he established the town of Kartarpur. Worked farming there with family. Anchored. Started bhajan-kirtan in Dharamshala.

Guru Sri Nanakdevji had meaningful teachings. When the name is remembered, do kirtan-bhajan. Leave Vand, they themselves lived the same way. Bhadarva vad dasam samvat 12 i.e. in 19th AD merged into param tatva. A Gurudwara has been built here in Kartarpur in his memory.
