- Tara Sutaria, who learned western classical dance as well as singing, has a long way to go in Bollywood...
If you are a kid yourself or have a kid in your household, you may remember that a few years ago there was a funny serial on Pogo channel for kids called 'The Suite Life of Karan and Kabir'. There was a cute teenage girl in it. She looked as cute as little Katrina Kaif. Who would have thought this time that this girl would become a mainstream Hindi film heroine within a few years!
This girl is your tailor. We first saw him on the big screen in Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year-Part Two'. While Karan Johar launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Part One, Part Two launched Tara Sutaria and Ananya Pandey along with a relatively senior Tiger Shroff. Although Part-Two did not get the same success as Part-One, Ananya and Tara's car took off. Tara then did films like 'Marjawan', 'Tadap', 'Heropanti-Two' and most recently 'Ek Villain Returns'. If none of these films are appreciated, where can you get them? The film 'Ek Villain Returns' has broken the budget at the box office, so it can be considered a success.
Hailing from a Parsi family, Tara is a true Bombay-girl. She has studied classical ballet, modern dance and Latin American dance. She has been singing songs since she was seven years old. She has worked in English musicals. She also has a twin sister, who is away from the film world.
'Films are never discussed in our house when I return from a shoot,' says Tara, 'When we are all sitting at the dining table or in the drawing room, there are other topics, never a film discussion. . No one at home feels the need to complain about my work. I like this kind of environment. There is nothing filmy in my house. You will never hear any movie gossip here. Everything is quite normal... just like in any normal house.'
Tara is so far away from the film environment that her boyfriend named Aadhar Shah is also non-filmy. You are very open about your love affairs. He never said 'no, no... I'm single' in the media. 'Adar's family is like my family,' he says, 'very warm and nice people. I have a lot of respect for him. I expect little things from my boyfriend too. Like, I'd rather have him make me tea in the morning than give me expensive gifts. I would be more happy if he surprises me by putting those handwritten love-notes in my purse, my bag.'
Tara is still a rising star of Bollywood. He is yet to deliver super hit films, is yet to impress the audience as well as the critics with his performance. But you still have a lot of time. He is talented. Despite being an outsider, he has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood, however small it may be. 'There's no need to take life too seriously,' concludes Tara, 'things get better with time. No need to be afraid of people, situations. Learn to value yourself and keep moving slowly but steadily.'
