- Scientists of the world
Body structure and traits of humans, animals and plants are heritable. Every organism has its own hierarchy. The study of this field is called genetics. The foundation of this science was laid by Gregor Mendel. This discovery was followed by the discovery of genes and DNA. This research made possible the treatment of many diseases and started a separate branch of genetic science.
Mendel was born in c. He was born on July 20, 1822 in Austria. As a child, he used to take care of the farm and garden. He started his career with higher education in Philosophy and Physics at Olomouc University. The natural history department of the university used to conduct research on plant hierarchy.
Mendel studied there and became a priest as well. After becoming a priest, he was named Gregor. He joined a church in Vienna as a priest. While at St. Thomas Church, he continued to research bees and plants. He bred about 29,000 pea plants and discovered that they maintained certain rules of inheritance and wrote a research paper.
At first he was criticized and no one accepted him. After his death on January 6, 1884, after 1900, when many researches were done in the field of biology, Mendel's researches were found to be correct and his theory was accepted all over the world.
