Artificial intelligence technology has made a lot of progress in the last few years. This technology is about to lead to a celebrated future as well as it can do serious harm if it gets into the hands of the wrong people. Artificial intelligence is nowadays becoming a weapon of hackers. Hackers use this technology to trick online fraud. Recently, hackers have racked up an estimated Rs. 75.5 million from the CEO's account of a company taking advantage of this technology.
According to a report, hackers have cheated the CEO of a German company with the CEO of a UK company. The incident happened in March when the CEO of UK Best One Energy Firm was getting calls from the CEO of his parent company. The phones were exchanged with the help of AI, not the CEO of the parent company.
The CEO of the UK company did not even know this and after transferring the money to a Hungarian supplier account after talking to hackers who understood the business deal. According to the report, the money was transferred to other countries along with Mexico. The hackers also asked the CEO to transfer the money within an hour and said he would get a refund. However, this amount will not be returned to him.
According to TechExpert, hackers and such fraudsters use IA-based voice generating software. The software is so advanced that it can mimic the sound of anyone. The investigating agencies are investigating the fraud. But they have not yet achieved success. However, the insurance company has repaid the loss to the firm.
Fraud that eliminates counterfeit noise using AI is fueled by a social engineering technique. In general, it is called voice phishing. In it hackers remove the fake sound of someone on the phone and harm the user. Such cases have not been reported much, but it cannot be denied that hackers did not make it their weapon in this age of technology.
