The temple is situated in a village called Dodgadavalli, 16 km from Hassan in Karnataka. It is said that this temple is 900 years old. According to historians, the temple was built in 1113,14, ie during the time of Vishnuvardhana, the ruler of the Hosel Empire. This temple is one of the oldest temples of the Hosel architectural style.

The main goddess of the temple is Lakshmi. This temple is the only example of a temple with four temples built during the Hosala period. Here devotees come from far and wide to see. The temple has four rooms built in all four directions, which connect to each other in the center. In the eastern sanctum, the goddess Mahalaxmi is seated, with a conch in her right hand and a chakra in the upper left hand. On both sides of the goddess Lakshmi are idols of two hostesses.
