Shiva devotees are eagerly waiting for Mahashivratri festival during the year. This year Mahashivratri festival will be held in February. The Mahashivavagi will be celebrated on February 21, 2020.
When is Shivaratri celebrated?
If Chaturdashi is on the first day of Nishithvipani then Mahashivaratri is celebrated on that day. Muhurt is called the Nishith Period at eight in the night. In simple terms, the date of Chattadarshi begins and Shivaratri is celebrated on the day when the eighth muhurat of the night comes to Chaturdashi.
Shivratri comes every month
Shivratri is celebrated every month in Hinduism. Every month, fourteen of the Krishnapakas are called Shivaratri. But Mahashivaratri is celebrated on the fourteenth of Krishnapaksa of Pagan month. Shiva is worshiped specially on this day. It is believed that Shiva and Parvati were married on this day.
Mahashivratri Muhurt
The auspicious time of Mahashivaratri worship will be 49 minutes this year. Worship of the Nishith period will be from 12.27 hours to 1.17 hours on the night of February 21 and Friday.
Worship ceremony
Wake up before sunrise on the morning of Mahashivaratri and pledge to worship and fast Shiva. Go to the temple to offer water to Lord Shiva. It is also considered auspicious to wear a rudraksha bead on this day. Anointing Shivaji on the day of Mahashivratri by adding Ganges to raw milk. Worship them with sandalwood, incense, flower offering.
