Rakul Preet Singh narrates the real case associated with the new film

- I haven't done much for my parents though. But I gave my father an emotional surprise on his 70th birthday. I invited all his NDA coursemates to come to us on his birthday.

Actress Rakul Preet Singh's latest film 'Sardar Ka Grandson' is making a splash. The film tells the story of a grandson who brings home from Pakistan to fulfill his grandmother's wish. Family memories are emotionally represented in the story of this movie. And this story is directly connected with Rakul Preet Singh with his real life. He handles some of the same cases as this film involving his family.

Rakul says my grandparents and great-grandparents were originally from Pakistan. At the time of partition, they came and settled in India. My grandfather always used to say that I want to go to Pakistan once and see my home. "When the Samjhauta Express started, we even thought of sending him to Pakistan," he added. But they could not go alone. And my father was in the army so he could not take my grandfather to Pakistan.

My grandfather was also very old when my father retired from the army. And he passed away last year. When I heard the story of 'Sardarkagrandson', I felt that this story belongs to my own family. So I immediately got ready to work on this movie.

In this film released on OTT, a grandson picks up his house from Pakistan for his grandmother. "I haven't done much for my parents," says Rakul. But I gave my father an emotional surprise on his 70th birthday. I invited all his NDA coursemates to come to us on his birthday. For a soldier, these are all his closest friends.

I started inviting them just over a month before my dad's birthday. And when my dad came to the sitting room on his birthday, he was surprised to see his friends from different cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Jalandhar, Pune. He kept saying during the party that my children have made me happy. For us, the day was full of emotions. In short, some of the film's stories are directly touching on our real life.
