Why don't glamorous Bollywood actresses play the role of mother?

In the recently released 'Mimi', glamorous actress Kriti Sen played the role of a pregnant woman. When she accepted the role and gained 15 kg for it, many wondered why young-glamorous actresses would be ready to play the role of mother on screen. And it's not that Kriti has played such a role.

Earlier, top actresses like Preity Zinta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandes as well as Vidya Balan have played the role of mother. So it is natural to ask, are there any special reasons for accepting such a role at such a young age? Or they are ready to play such characters just to do something new.

Analysts say there are many reasons behind playing the role of mother on screen. Some actresses happily play such roles, while some actresses in Hindi films have inevitably played the role of mothers at a young age to meet their financial needs in the same way that Nachutke becomes a surrogate mother to earn money in 'Mimi'.

Speaking of Himani Shivpuri, she has so far played the mother characters of actors like Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan. In fact she was not at all older than these actors at the age when she played these roles. But due to financial need, she became the mother of actors of her age.

Himani Shivpuri says that when I started accepting the role of mother of actors my age 21 years ago, many people advised me not to play such characters at such a young age. But after the death of my husband Gyan Shivpuri, I had to raise my son alone. So I had no choice but to accept the role offered to me. And since then I have become the mother of almost all the top actors in the Hindi film industry.

While Amrita Prakash, who played Ranveer Singh's mother in 'Gali Boy', says that sometimes actors and filmmakers work for their own satisfaction. When I accepted the role of mother in this film, a lot of people told me that somewhere I should not be typecast. But I did not miss the opportunity to work with Zoya Akhtar. And my decision to do this roll was fruitful. I was awarded the Best Supporting Actress award. And even after playing this role, I have done glamorous roles.

Some actors don't want to let a good role get out of hand. In such a situation, they are also ready to become 'moms'. Speaking of Preity Zinta in this regard, she accepted the role of a minor mother in the third film of her career 'Kya Kahna' after 'Dil Se' and 'Soldier'.

"When I decided to do this film, a lot of people were asking me if I was crazy," Pretty wrote on social media a short while ago. I will ruin my career at an early stage. But I just listened to my mind. And even today it seems to me that one should always listen to one's own mind.

Like Pretty Zinta, Priyanka Chopra has set aside her glamorous image and played the role of the mother of young actors like Zaira Wasim and Rohit Shroff in 'Sky Is Pink'. Before that, she also played the role of mother in 'Mary Kom' and 'Bijirao Mastani'. "The role you play should be challenging," Priyanka said in an interview. I don’t enjoy working unless I play difficult characters.

There is also fact in Priyanka's story. Maybe this is why Shefali Shah played the role of Akshay Kumar's mother in 'Waqt-Race Against Time'. While in 'Secret Superstar', Mehr Vij became Zayara Wasim's mother. Decades ago, even the top actresses were in the forefront in playing the role of mother when it comes to strong roles.

As for Nargis Dutt, she played the role of the mother of Sunil Dutt and Rajendra Kumar in 'Mother India'. While Waheeda Rahman and Rakhi played the roles of their mother despite being Amitabh Bachchan's heroines. Waheeda Rahman played the role of Amitabh Bachchan's girlfriend in 'Dharma' and 'Adalat' and became the mother of the superhero in 'Coolie' as well as 'Trishul'. Similarly, Rakhi also played the role of his mother in 'Shakti' after playing the roles of Amitabh Bachchan's girlfriend in 'Kabhi Kabhi', 'Trishul' and 'Kasme Vaadein'.

Some actresses believe that different types of roles are required to stay in the film industry for a long time. And such diversity also includes mother roles. Maybe this is why Amisha Patel played the role of Utkarsh Sharma's mother in 'Gaddar'.

While Katrina Kaif in 'New York', Richa Chadha in 'Gangs of Wassepur', Aishwarya in 'Jajba', Kajol in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', Deepika Padukone in 'Bajirao Mastani', Yami Gautam in 'Badlapur', 'Manikarnika'. In Kangna Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez did not hesitate to play the role of mother in 'Brothers'.
