- Identity of the sky - Kumarapala Desai
- An important point in this dialogue between Lord Mahavira and the eleven Ganadhars has been neglected. Lord Mahavira's conversation with eleven Pandits has come to be known as Gandharism.
It is a pity that we have not been able to show the great and noble character of Guru Gautam Swami, the pinnacle of the spiritual world. He could not reveal the grandeur of the human qualities and the divinity of the inner qualities in every event of his life.
Guru Gautam Swami's character is a giver of a new direction, a new vision, a new dimension, a new value and a new spirituality, whether it is in the characters of the world or in the characters who have attained spiritual heights. This is a genius that requires a lifetime of self-study and contemplation.
The first thing is that a great ideal is found from Shri Guru Gautam Swami, a sage, a master of Sakal Shastra, and that is the ideal. Of the Guru-Shishya tradition. Sometimes if you explore ancient history you will find such a Guru-Shishya duo. Whether it is Rishi Vishwamitra and Shriram, Rishi Sandipani and Shrikrushna or Guru Drauna and Veer Arjuna, but 200 years ago today, Lord Mahavira and Guru Gautam Swami's Guru-Shishya duo not only gave a new standard to human behavior, but also to the spiritual world. .
The first is that Guru Gautam Swami, who became Gautam Ganadhar from Mahapandit Indrabhuti, was dispelled by Lord Mahavira about his age-old doubts about himself and his two brothers Agnibhuti, Vayubhuti and a total of eleven Pandits accepted the path of Lord Mahavira. Thus this Guru-disciple did not meet for any material reason.
Oops! It does not happen here that the Guru gives knowledge and the disciple acquires knowledge and in that way the Guru-disciple relationship is created. Here is a rare incident where Indrabhuti Gautam, a great Pandit from all over India, has such a knowledge-loving and truth-accepting heart that he is determined to follow the path of Lord Mahavira.
At that time, he was an expert in Sakal Shastra, proficient in Vaad-vidya, held the highest position in Yajna-Yagya and Dharmakriyas, who was skilled in presenting the basis of Shastra to support his opinion, and on whose tongue Saraswati always dwells. Indrabhuti Gautam, who possesses, first thinks that he has seen many scriptures, thought a lot, but I cannot determine if the eternal element called Atma exists in the world and when As well as expressing doubts, he answers them. Then the worm of doubt that has been bothering the mind of Mahapandit for years is removed.
And you see the next incident, both hands of Mahapandit Indrabhuti joined hands with Lord Mahavira and said, 'You are truly omniscient. You are the supreme knower, you are the supreme scientist. Even though I know many scriptures, I still consider them ignorant. You have shown my mental skepticism as it is. He also said that my mind is flawed in the meaning of Vedapath. Now please explain its truth through the same Vedapada. '
Think of how gland-free the heart of Guru Gautam Swami will be. It is possible to accept the truth instinctively, as a result of which this great veteran scholar of Bharatkhand, who has been wandering with ego for fifty years, accepts the instinctive interpretation of Vedapada from Prabhu Mahavira. No matter how high the position, no matter how vast the knowledge, but if the heart is locked for the truth, the doors of his mind are always open to accept the truth.
Such are the open doors of the mind of Mahapandit Indrabhuti Gautam and that is why his ego does not interfere here. The supreme position he has attained as a Mahapandit does not prevent him from attaining Satyagraha and just look, Indrabhuti Gautam Prabhu says to Mahavira, 'Please explain to me its truth through Vedapada.' There has been a great event and mystery behind this statement of Mahapandit Indrabhuti.
We should not forget that these eleven Pandits had knowledge of the twelve limbs and the fourteenth century scriptures. These eleven Pandits considered themselves omniscient. He gained fame as a great scholar by diligently studying the scriptures and conquering the scriptures. Only because of the contradictory promises in the Vedas did every Pandit have doubts about different elements in his mind. There was a large group of disciples following him. Among them were 3-year-old Pandit Mauryaputra, 8-year-old Pandit Mandik, 40-year-old Pandit Gautam, Vyakta and Sudharma, 5-year-old Metarya and 16-year-old Prabharu.
All these were Vedic scholars. He studied the Vedas deeply and thus by explaining the meaning of what is described in the Vedas, he can understand his essence in a very intuitive way and that is why Lord Mahavira explains his principles by interpreting the meaning of other Vedic sentences, not just one.
It is really surprising to realize the importance of this matter, because it was a time when it was glorious to stick to one's own opinion and attack the opposing opinion. Defeating an opponent or a philosopher by argument was considered to be the ultimate meaning of scholarship. Thus the knowledge of scripture was used to refute dissent and to refute one's own opinion. Moreover, there was a tradition of Indian philosophy in which itishri was considered to be the founder of self-opinion by insisting on the opinion of the opponent.
While an important point in this dialogue between Lord Mahavira and the eleven Ganadhars has been neglected. Lord Mahavira's conversation with eleven Pandits has come to be known as Gandharism. Nowhere in this Gandharism is there a critique of dissent. Nowhere are the opposing scriptures portrayed as weak or false. Rather, Lord Mahavira explains to them his philosophy by giving them a clear interpretation of the scripture which they have come to know.
This is considered to be a great revolutionary event in the world of Dharmachintan, but many such events have taken place in the life of Guru Gautam Swami. Whose great mysteries will be solved one by one.
