- We are chewing the history of science in India. Science really has to make history
- Horizon-Bhaven Kutchi
- Even in science seminars, instead of the topic of which future world project is being researched, the pride story of thousands of years ago is being blown away: present and future should be lofty.
- 0.8% of GDP in India while Israel allocates 4.95% for research
Indian scientists, researchers and organizations working for it are also lamenting that India is talking of becoming a world guru in the next five years. We serve the dream of a change of country but the most neglected in the country are science, research, science institutes.
Instead of presenting future projects in science fairs, conferences of scientists as well as seminars-workshops to compliment the leaders and some of the scientists now play a record that thousands of years ago we flew there, medical surgery was done. Much of the current discovery-mathematical evidence is all from the days of our ancient scientists.
These scientists and leaders are chanting until the British have done all our formulas, product quality in their name. Assume that even if we had such a glorious legacy in the past, how long would it take to keep a record of one? Look at the current.
Right now the world is struggling with artificial intelligence, hyper loop transport, artificial organs, cancer victory, alternative energy, online global university, bio-nanotechnology, genetics, sports and science, hunger and longevity. We see the amazing infrastructure project on YouTube. With the revolution of smart phones, apps, computers connected to clothes, chips, communication, what was changing in the world 30 years ago is now taking shape in five years.
The original research of all our goods and technology is done abroad. Made mostly in the USA, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, South Korea and China. Yes, great work has been done in the field of space but it does not seem to be the result of creating an atmosphere of science in the country.
Why don't the countries of the world, including China, use the 'Made in India' product like China, instead of boycotting the Made in China product? The idea should come that Vatbher can penetrate.
The countries of the world do not run on slogans like 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan Jai Vijnan'. Small countries have 5-20 Nobel Prize winners but India has won only 10 Nobel Prizes in 20 years, six of which have been settled abroad and researched there.
A shocking joke in WhatsApp was circulating a few months ago. Giving an inspirational speech, a popular speaker used to raise his fist in the air and say to the youth in Vivekananda's Ada, 'If you can't run ... if you can't run, walk ... if you can't walk, walk on lame legs ... Just go ahead with passion ... As soon as the applause of the audience calmed down, a young man with frustration heard everyone say, "Sir ... tell me where and in which direction we are going this way?"
The budget for research or science institutes in India, which is really dreaming of becoming a world leader, is at the bottom of the list of six countries in the world. India spends only 0.5 per cent of its GDP on this. This amount is Rs. 2000 crore. Research accounts for 7.5 per cent of GDP in Israel, 2.8 per cent in Japan, 2.81 per cent in South Korea, 2.7 per cent in Switzerland, 2.50 per cent in Germany and 9 per cent in China and the US.
Out of this Rs 2,000 crore, 50 per cent has been allocated for Mission Mars-2. Science institutes include agriculture, medicine, finance, conservation, renewable energy, alternative energy, solar, atomic biotechnology, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence space research, industrial and so on.
Even the misery of such a miserable allotment is compounded by the fact that instead of having a budget and a target for research on pure science, there is an attempt to appease the BJP government by allocating budget to research to prove that science is in our ancient beliefs. The water of the Ganges does not get dirty ... Yoga is a science. Why were war wounded treated in India 2000 years ago? The distance between the sun and the earth is stated by the ancient scientists in the Puranas ... Proving all this is also a waste of time and money. Projects and presentations also revolve around similar topics.
There is a need to create an environment of science and research. Can there be a genius drop out who can't complete school or college education or degree like America, Europe or China? What if Bill Gates or Zuckerberg, Jack Ma were in India?
The central government should conduct a detailed result-oriented study of the world's universities, research centers, curricula, the factors behind their environment, the system for providing platforms to talents and the allocated budget. There is no country in the world with such talent as our youth.
Only their mind to find a job and settle down and what will we get in this? No it needs to change. Our young people also have to take care of their families. The state or central government and the corporate world should recognize such talents and adopt them as if they have a good job so that they can spend years in their research with ease and send money to his family.
Like the IPL or other sports leagues, the corporate world should create a franchise and bid for crores of rupees to buy a separate wire from the talented young generation for a research project. Players get Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 12-13 crore are received. Even if such a science gives ten to twelve lakh rupees a year to a talented talent, he will feel blessed. The sports culture of baseball, basketball, football, athletics, swimming, tennis in America and Europe is also a model of research.
Along with the Mint of Mabalakh Talent, a large section of our young generation also spends their precious time in full time literature, make-up, food, redemption, satsangs, camps, motivational programs and the extravagance of words and companionship.
Even in WhatsApp, we forward the message more and the original creation is less. Even in that which is original, there is an endless abundance of the glory of the past. The focus should be on the present and the future. We cannot ignore the material world for an overdose of spiritual bliss. Once we wait for foreigners to find something, we become its biggest consumers.
Thousands of young people will protest in New Delhi or other cities of India with banners and candles for the reservation of youth, for the protection of human rights, against the policy of the government or as activists. But like the developed countries, we do not rally with the demand for civics, systems and institutions.
Every year in August, science institutes across the country organize a "March for Science" program to raise awareness about the implementation of a global system ranging from government funding for science. Unfortunately, eighty cities in the country joined in.
In all, the number of scientists and students carrying banners on the roads across the country was barely 2,100. In New Delhi, only 200 science enthusiasts and scholars participated in the rally. This figure is equal to the capacity of one class room of Jawaharlal Nehru University! Against this, thousands of students camped for months for justice in the university movement, which can only be seen in India.
If India wants to be a world leader, it has to cultivate science and sports culture.
