While Emperor Ashoka played an important role in the spread of Buddhism, Maharaja Samprati, the grandson of Emperor Ashoka, did an excellent job of spreading Jainism in the country and abroad. He did many works for the welfare of the people at present. Stop violence from their own states. Hunting banned. He erected pillars and stupas like his grandfather Ashoka. He built many temples and made idols, but his specialty was that the temple did not even mention his name in the idols. He did public welfare work, but he did not like the importance for his own fame and glory. The inscriptions note that whatever Priyadarshi strives for is for the Hereafter so that everyone's sins may be lessened.
Once upon a time the king was sitting in the window of his palace. While watching Acharya Suhastisuri passing by on the highway, the present Maharaja felt as if he had known this great influential Sadhu Mahatma for years. Gradually the memories of pre-birth began to emerge in the mind of the present Maharaj. He requested Guru Maharaj to come to the palace. Then Maharaja Samprati asked the question that I am visiting you today, but I feel as if I have been intimately acquainted with you for many years. Why would this happen?
Acharya Suhastisuri revealed the secret and said that you were my disciple in the previous birth. Once upon a time there was a severe famine in the town of Kaushambi, but the listeners were cheering the monks. At this time you did not get a piece of bread with a poor beggar's dasa. When you begged the monks to put out the fire in your stomach, you realized that only if you take initiation, these monks can give you the food they got in the pasture. So you took initiation. Did a lot of meals. After that, at the last moment, when you became a sadhu and passed away, Gurudev recited Navkar Mahamantra to him. This is about your past! That is why our philosophy seems familiar to you.
Hearing this, Maharaja Samprati put his kingdom at the feet of Acharya Suhastisuri, but what will Akinchan Vairagi Muni do to Raj? The principal gave him a sermon. The emperor became a true worshiper of religion and a great influence. Spread Jainism across the borders of India. Gurudev's pre-birth and the blessings of this birth were bestowed on him by the emperor. During his lifetime, he sent Jain monks to other countries to preach. Opened charities providing free meals to the poor. Built Jain monasteries.
How was the current Maharaja? Shri Vinay Vijayaji Upadhyay, who wrote a commentary on 'Kalpasutra' about his Dharmabhavana, has shown many of his virtues, while Kalikalsarvajna Hemchandracharya says in 'Appendix Parva' what a heartwarming depiction of the Dharmabhavana of Samrat Samprati.
It is (currently) the permission of Acharya Shri Arihant Prabhu is my God. Susadhu (Kanchan-Kamini's Tyagi) is my guru and Arihant was accepting the word of God as it is acceptable to me. He assumed Samyaktvavrat and since then he has become a strict listener who is purer than Anuvrat, Gunavrat and Shikshavrat. ..૬૨ .. Those with Danavali Lakshmi used to worship Jineshwar Prabhu and like their brothers, they used to pay homage to Sadharmi. ..૬૩ .. The glorious and invincible intellect was currently enriching the three continents of Bharatakshetra, starting from Vaitaiya, with Jin Chaityas.
At present, such a strict Jain Maharaja was a prajavatsal, peace-loving, non-violent devotee and majestic emperor like his grandfather Emperor Ashoka. Maharaja Samprati received noble religious rites from his father Kunal and mother Kanchanmala. Due to the teachings of his guru Acharya Shri Suhastisuri, he lived like an ideal Jain prince.
Maharaj Samprati took over the throne of Magadha after Emperor Ashoka. This is described in Jain texts, Hindu mythology like 'Matsyapurana' and Buddhist texts like 'Divyavadan'. Maharaj Samprati did many welfare works in the first year of his reign. He built new roads for the welfare of the people, repaired old roads, carried out public works like Vav, wells, lakes etc. Made governance more systematic and people-oriented. He made Avanti the capital instead of Magadha for the convenience of the rulers. He rebuilt schools, inns and temples and repaired broken schools or inns. In this way, in the first year of his coronation, he performed the functions of the monarchy and the welfare of the people.
Not even a loaf of bread was received in his predecessor, constantly reminding him that the emperor made all arrangements to provide food to the poor. Wealth was spent generously in public welfare works. He built thousands of dining halls and dining halls at the four gates of Avanti town so that any poor or tourist could get free meals. In the same way, by building charities, he gave due donations to all those in need without any discrimination on the basis of religion or caste. In Panjrapol, animals were saved, reservoirs were built and water was made available for tourists or animals.
His justice was such that a large bell was erected under his palace, and anyone who had no one to listen to his complaint or who had been wronged by a judge could ring the bell and complain to the king. It is said that as soon as the bell rang, the king would set aside whatever work he liked and go to the palace only after giving justice to the plaintiff.
The story of the transformation of the life of the emperor is equally heartbreaking. When this emperor, who had conquered Digvijaya, entered the town, the people celebrated the great victory festival. His elephant rides across the town again. The women of the town greeted him warmly and wore garlands of flowers. The Bhat-charans praised M.
The emperor came to the palace and got down from the elephant and bowed to his mother. Mother's face was incredibly indifferent. The mother said, "How many genocides you have committed in the greed of the empire area! My heart would have felt immense happiness if Jinmandirs had been built or renovated instead of such a deadly massacre! It would always rain blessings on you! '' Seeing Samrat's immense grief, the heart of the emperor melted. Making a way of life, the mother said, "Power, wealth, strength, beautiful woman, etc. are all available, but if Sudharma is not worshiped, the soul will go to misery, so now try to achieve external victory by giving up external victories."
His guru Arya Shri Suhastisurishwarji also inspired him for this. As a result, Ther Ther started three works namely construction of new temples, renovation of ancient temples and construction of new statues. He built one and a half lakh Jinmandirs and filled one and a half crore Jinbimbos. In this way Guru and mother's Dharmabhavana came true.
