Yajnadatta - Kumar receives Kuberapada by the grace of Lord Shiva and his friendship with Lord Shiva
- Even today, a lamp named after Thai Kuberji is lit in the house to fulfill the occasion smoothly. Dhanbhandar and Annabhandar are never missing if Kuberji is gracious.
This event is described in the 18th chapter of Srishti Upakhyan Khand of Rudra Samhita of Shiva Mahapuran. A Brahmin named Yajnadatta lived in a town called Kampilya. This Brahmin was Agnihotri. This Brahmin was also a scholar and passionate ritualist in the Vedas. His son's name was Gunanidhi but he was also a treasure of vices. Despite being a Brahmin, he was addicted and a gambler. The mother of this Gunanidhi also failed to nurture her child. We have a line there, 'One mother needs a hundred teachers.' In Chanakya politics, Chanakya says, "Mother is the enemy, father is the enemy. Those who do not impart the sacrament to the children do not adorn the meeting in the same way as the swan does not adorn the meeting."
This episode of Shiva Mahapuran explains to every mother that in order for a child to progress in any field, mothers have to make some sacrifices. Gunanidhi's mother did not instill the sacrament inside her child. The father learns that his son has become a gambler. At that time, the father abandoned the mother and son. This Gunanidhi came to a Shivalaya while wandering. Mahapuja of Shivaratri was performed in that Shivalaya. This Pooja Gunanidhi listened to the entire Pooja. The first watch was over. Devotees walked out of the temple. At that time, Gunanidhi was very hungry. The offering that fell in Mahadevji's temple made him want to eat the offering but it was dark in the temple. At that moment, taking off the scarf on his shoulder, Gunanidhi tore off one end and made a hole to light the lamp. At the same time the devotees returned to the temple. Seeing Gunanidhi doing this, he beat him severely and took him to his death. At the time of his death, Yamadutas came to take this Gunanidhi but at the same time Shivaji's Ganas also came and said, 'At the time of Shivaratri, this Gunanidhi has inadvertently lit a lamp in Mahadevji's temple By lighting this lamp, all the previous sins of this Gunanidhi have been destroyed and he has become the possessor of Shivlok. '
This Gunanidhi became the son of King Adamba of Kalinga country in his second birth and when this Damba got the kingdom he announced that lamps should be lit in as many Shivalayas as there are and the kingdom would provide as much ghee as needed. This king lit lamps in every Shivalaya as long as he remained on earth. By lighting a lamp in the temple of King Mahadevji named Damb, he became the third born Kubera, the son of Vishruva. Who became Mahadevji's best friend. Even today, a lamp bearing the name of Thai Kuberji is lit to fulfill any occasion in our house without any hindrance. Dhanbhandar and Annabhandar are never missing if Kuberji is gracious. The same request that such Kuberji should have mercy on all of us and not let us lose our wealth.
