Vijayadashami is a spiritual festival of self-realization by conquering the senses!

- Vikha-Vithika-Devesh Mehta

- Lord Sri Rama is a form of Dharma and incarnated to establish Dharma. He radiated divinity with the nectar of truth, knowledge and religion. Vijayadashami is the festival of attaining self-knowledge and self-realization.

Vijaya Dashami, which falls after nine days of Nava Durga worship, is a spiritual festival of self-enlightenment, self-realization and soul-attainment. Raga-Dvesha, Kama-Krodha, Lobha-Moha, Abhiman-Irsha are the soldiers of the demonic army of Maya. A religious-spiritual person has to defeat and kill them. Just as Goddess Durga killed the asuras, Lord Sri Rama killed Ravana, the symbol of pride, with his divine power, we have to make our hearts and minds divine by destroying the evil demons that hinder our devotion. A medieval Gujarati poet, Saint Shiromani Jalaram Bapa's Guru Bhojabhagat says in one of his verses. 'Bhakti Shurvir's Sachi Ray, after taking it, do not return it! Bhakti Shish Tanu Satun Re, Vasami Hai Watun Re !' In this verse he says that the devotee has to overcome the enemies like asuras in the form of karma, anger, drunkenness, envy etc. like a brave warrior. In one of his verses he talks about Haribhakta. Be a Harijan, let him have a great intention, be devoted to his own name, a Hari devotee should have immense love for all, and after taking his own name, always remain without pride.

Another name of Vijaya Dashami is Dussehra. The word 'Dashera' is a corruption of the Hindi word 'Dashhara'. The day on which the ten heads of Ravana were defeated means Hanaya a Dasahara. Ramlila is performed during this festival. And on the evening of Dussehra, the event is celebrated by burning the effigy of Ravana by the person playing the role of Lord Shri Ram. Ravana's ten heads are a symbol of tenfold ego. Pride is considered a great fault and vice in the path of spirituality. Kabirji says - Kiya karana sab gaya jab aya abhiman.' It is still a little easier to give up everything else, but it is much harder to give up pride and envy. Kanchan tajna sahaj hai, sahaj triya ka neh. Honour, pride, jealousy are rare cinnamon eh..

There are other occasions that glorify the festival of Vijaya Dashami. On this day, Devaraja Indra defeated the Asuras by striking Vritrasura with a vajra made from Maharishi's bone. On Vijaya Dasami, the Pandavas ended their ignorance, worshiped their weapons and adopted them again. Even now, many places follow the tradition of how the Pandavas kept their weapons in the hollow of the Shami tree and then took them out on Vijayadashami. On Vijayadashami, weapons, symbols of power, are worshiped with scriptural rituals. On this day, motorists also worship their vehicles. Any work done on this day brings success, achievement and victory.

Vijayadashami is celebrated to celebrate Lord Rama's victory over Ravana. Lord Sri Rama is a form of Dharma and incarnated to establish Dharma. He radiated divinity with the nectar of truth, knowledge and religion. Vijayadashami is the festival of attaining self-knowledge and self-realization. The soul in the body is a part of God. Atman is associated with Rama. That's why we often say the word 'atamaram'. Pursuing the soul, it should be constantly remembered. Kabirji says - King Rana's bada, bada jo Sumare Ram. Unse bhi wo bada jo sumare nij Ram. He who remembers Atama-Rama within himself is called great in the world.

In the fifth-sixth verses of the sixth chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Sri Krishna says- Uddhare datmanatmanan natmanamvasadyet. Bandhuratmaiva Repuratman of Atmaiva Hayatman :.. To redeem soul by soul, not to lead the soul down the path of incorruption. The soul is the friend of the soul and the soul is the enemy of the soul. 'Bandhuratmatmansatsya Yenatmaivatmana Jit : . Anatmanastu shatrutve vartetatmaiva shatruvat. He who has won the soul. (one who has become jitendriya) his soul is a friend to him, but whose soul has not conquered the senses. His soul is an enemy to him.' In the sixteenth chapter of the Gita, 'Daivasur Sampadvibhaga Yoga', Lord Shri Krishna has spoken of divine virtues and demonic vices. Navratri worship teaches to remove demonic vices with divine power and to realize the divine, immortal Lord Sri Rama in Vijayadashami Antaratma.
