Asteroid belt.

Eight planets in the solar system, including Earth, orbit alone. All these planets being of large size are arranged in different orbits according to their weight and size. But during the formation of the solar system, along with these large planets, small and large rocks were also released. All these stone-like rocks of different shapes got together and started orbiting the sun. After Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars in the solar system, this group of asteroids orbits in the shape of a belt. Jupiter, Neptune etc. planets come after this belt. This group of asteroids is called the asteroid belt and it divides the outer and inner planets of the solar system.

An astronomer named Daniel Terrell from Germany discovered this asteroid belt in 1700 AD. Some of the asteroids orbiting in the asteroid belt are just a few orbiting fragments, while others are thousands of kilometers in size. Their shapes are also irregular. All these asteroids are hard rock like rocks. While rotating, they collide with each other and become small pieces. Astronomers have studied about 300 large asteroids from this belt. There are crores of rocks in this belt. Some of which are published. Scientists have also established the identity of some asteroids by giving names like Vesta, Pallas, Siris.
