- Television Day

- It was a golden age for Indian television when 'One Family-One Nation-One Channel-One Culture' was seen every evening.

'..anything seen on TV now?'...'no...antenna still a little bit...'..'now?'...'a scene is seen in between a few sprinkles..still a little bit..', 'Now?'..'That's it, now it's over. You come down...' Most of those who watched the 1980s must have witnessed this scene on television. Even if there was a program of barely 1 hour during the day, one had to do a 'struggle' to set the frequency of the television from the antenna placed on the roof or balcony. Now not only home TVs have become, rather the smart phone in our hands is also a kind of TV replacement.

After being mentioned in many stories from the Mahabharata, finally S. In 1925, Scottish engineer John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of an actual television. If we compare from then to now, it is a long story like most of the serials that are coming nowadays. The history behind the invention of television is also interesting. The thing is, John Logie Baird, the inventor of television, could not go to school due to childhood illness. Born on August 13, 1888 in Scotland, Baird was so interested in the telephone that he developed his own personal telephone at the age of 12. Baird thought that one day people would send pictures through the air. Baird invented television in 1924 using a box, a biscuit tin, a sewing machine needle, a card and a fan motor. In December 1996, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate November 21 every year as World Television Day to promote the power of television as a very powerful medium of communication. We have television started in Delhi in 1959 on an experimental basis. At that time, its range was only 40 kilometers. This broadcasting service, started with the collaboration of UNESCO, was then only two days a week in which only 20 minutes were broadcast. This broadcast was started with an aim to see what role television could play in nation building. Due to which only educational programs were broadcast at that time. This went on for two years and resulted in an encouraging increase in the broadcast time from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. However, it was broadcast only two days a week.

Despite the very good results, it took 6 years for the government to decide that this kind of broadcast should be done every day. In 1965, it was decided to broadcast on television every day, but there was no specific agenda of what programs to show. 1972 in Mumbai and its relay broadcast center was started in Pune. During this time it was decided to show the news on TV. But this news was equivalent to Akashvani's news. For, it did not merely read-visual report of the news. In the early 1980s, both TV sets and Doordarshan were complementary to each other. At that time only 'Krishi Darshan' was seen in the name of the program in Doordarshan owned by the government. At that time there was no connection between TV and entertainment. A television set covered in a table cloth or behind a shutter was seen only as a 'status symbol'. Compared to now, in the 1990s, channels and serials were less but of better quality. In 1976, 'Laddusinh Taxiwala' was the first serial in Indian television history, in which Pantal was the lead actor.

Basesar Ram-Bhagwanti-Lallu-Chutki-Prince of 'Humlog' in 1980s, Master Haveliram-Lajoji-Lala Gendamal of 'Buniyad', Guru-Khopadi-Radha-Kadarbhai-Hari of 'Nukkad' are companions in happiness and sorrows. had become For any new film, the first day of release, Friday plays a very important role. But the magic of the serial 'Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi' in 1984 was such that it started affecting the business of Friday films. Ranjit-Renu-Raja through clean comedy and Satish Shah who comes with a different character in every installment would relieve the tiredness of the day. Compared to now, in spite of very simple sets-ordinary special effects, the Ramayana-Mahabharata serial had such an attraction that during its broadcast, a situation like Swanyabhu curfew was created.

In many homes, it has become a rule to stop bathing before watching Ramayana-Mahabharata. Apart from this, Wednesday-Friday 'Chitrahar', 'Super Hit Mukabala', Sunday morning 'Rangoli', 'Mickey Mouse', 'Hi-Man', 'Junglebook' cartoon series, 'Vikram Vaital', 'Dada-Dadi Ki' Serials like Kahania', 'Ek Do Tin Char', 'Faster Fane', 'The Stoneboy', 'Tenaliraam' were so popular among children that they did not even go out to play during its telecasts.

The number of 'friends' of those who have a TV in their house would also increase. Thus, the channel options were few but varied. Through which not only entertainment but also the satisfaction of knowledge would come. Current serials are like Gujarati Bhan Pirsati Hotel. There is a lot of luster, the plate has various options of leafy vegetables-farsan-sweets. But it's rare to find a dish that leaves a lasting impression upon leaving the hotel.
