With the onset of Navratri, there will be a huge influx of devotees in the 52 Shakti Peethas in the country and abroad. One such place is bordering Nepal. The Devi Patan Temple is located on the banks of the Syrian river in the Tulsipur area of Balarampur district in Uttar Pradesh. This temple is situated in Pateshwari. They are worshiped by offering items such as flowers, coconut, pendant. Here people also go for a walk and see darshan.

According to the beliefs, Dwarkhedev did not invite Mahadev to the ceremony organized by Father Daksha Prajapati. Saddened by this humiliation, Sati took a bath. Angry with Sati's death, Mahadev began to take Sati's body and began to crave it. The earth also began to shake with Shiva tandava and arrangements were being made in the world. To prevent this situation, Lord Vishnu disrupted Sati's organs with a Sudarshan chakra. Sati's limbs fell to 51 places on the ground. Shaktipeeth was installed where the mother's limbs fell. At this point, the mother's left hip fell, including the palmar. Since then mother worship is performed here as Pateshwari Devi.

There is also a sanctuary in the temple. There is also the belief that this is where Mother Sita went to the abyss. Nine temples of the mother are also installed in this temple. An intact flame has also been ignited in the temple since its inception. There is also a belief about this temple that Ratan Examiner, a prince of Nepal's Dang Chowdh, worshiped the goddess Patan. His mother was blessed with her penance. He has since been known as Baba Ratan Nath. He founded the Nath sect and propagated it in Afghanistan, Nepal and other countries.

There is also a belief associated with the temple during the Mahabharata period. It is believed that the son of the sun, Karna, also took a bath in the kund in the temple premises. He took a bath here and sought guidance from Lord Parshuram. Since then the name of this Kund has been called Surya Kund. Not only this, Mother Sita's abyss during the Treta Yug also took place from this temple.
