In times of recession there is a business which has no effect on the recession. The business is constantly evolving. The business is to steal people's personal information and sell it. Yes, at present, the business of selling people's data to companies is daunting but people are unaware of it. People buy personal information from companies for 15 to 50 paise. The business is worth over Rs 10,000 crore. However, now foreign companies have joined the business. There are some companies that buy people's personal information and sell it to other companies at their own price. However, since there is no law to prevent such business, the police cannot do anything in this regard.
Thousands of crores of business
People are getting calls daily from the call center. Various offers are mentioned in the call. Offers a loan, offers a flat, offers a reward, offers a credit card. Apart from this, there are also phones coming up for marketing various products. When receiving this call have you ever thought that you did not give your number to any of these, yet how can they call in front of you if they understand your requirement? According to an NIC official, people's personal information is leaking and it reaches the call center. However, there are not one or two thousand call centers that work this way.
There are some call centers that collect data from direct government departments like banks, insurance centers, telecommunication, railways etc. At present, all records are digitized so it is not difficult to get the data. With the relevant section set up, all data can be moved from one place to another within minutes. This business is constantly evolving in our country. At present, the business has grown to 10 thousand crores.
Data prices as per the qualification of the person
In this business of selling people's personal information, the value of their data is determined by the qualification of the individual. The information of the middle class or below is sold for 15 to 20 paise. But if a VIP person, businessman or officer is a person of status, then his knowledge gets 50 to 55 paise. Delhi Police arrested a gang involved in the business. Their inquiries revealed that they purchased this information and sold it to them. There are some centers that use personal information to deceive people.
Such people call users and seduce them. If a family member is receiving treatment, the call center has the same information. In such cases, he or she directly calls the victim's family to become an insurance agent. In such times, people are harming themselves with the idea that they will receive financial help.
Foreign companies more active
Foreign companies who came to India to do business had to collect people's data. But call centers have simplified their work. They buy information from this center at a modest price as the amount up to 15 to 50 paise is exactly the same as dust for foreign companies. He uses this data to grow his business. However, some foreign companies have come into the business themselves. Those who buy this information at low prices and sell it to other companies for profit.
The law is lacking
There is no law to prevent this business from growing day by day. Supreme Court spokesman and cyber affairs expert Pawan Duggal says the government should immediately take steps to stop the business. The problem now is that there is no law to stop this trade from happening in the country. The business is taking the form of big business over time. Big companies use this data to grow their business. This data is the work of the Spirit for any new economy. Justice Shrikrushna Samiti was also constituted for data protection.
It was proposed to bring a bill in this regard but nothing could be done. The government has sought suggestions but all proceedings are in the files. At present, privacy of the people is going on openly. He further added that if India wants to make superpowers in IT, then data protection law must be brought.
