In the name of KYC, learn how cyber fraud is done with the remote access app!

Whether you have an account in Paytm or any other mobile wallet app, whether or not you have completed the procedure for No Your Customer (KYC), you may receive an SMS that says "Your Wallet Account" , KYC was suspended for not completing the ritual, call this number immediately to complete the ritual… "

If you do not use the mobile wallet or have completed the KYC ritual or if you are aware of such fraud then you should ignore such SMS.

But many people use such a wallet, perhaps because they have not actually completed the KYC ritual and, in particular, are unaware of how it is being faked on the Internet. They call the number in the message and ask what to do next.

Understand exactly what happens next
Needless to say, the person at the front has no connection to Paytm or any other mobile wallet. Yet, he claims to be his own employee. It says you only need to add one rupee or ten bucks to your account to make sure the account is yours - but first you need to install an app!

This app can be a remote access app called 'TeamViewer' or 'Anadysk'. These apps themselves are not illegal or fake, but with the help of it, we allow those thugs to 'watch' our phone's screen sitting at a distance.

Now the cheater tells us to add a small amount to our own Paytm account. Any way we do this transaction, the corresponding OTP comes into our mobile. Who can also see the paleo thugs. Immediately he or she gets another large amount of transactions using the details and OTPs that are due to our transaction, which goes into their account or used to pay for shopping anywhere in the name. In India, the number of frauds using the Remote Access app is constantly increasing.

What is this remote access app?

If the IT team sitting in the company's head office is responsible for the maintenance of your computer in your office, then you will know about remote access software. Remote access is also used for online support of the software.

With remote access software, anyone who is away from our computer can make changes to our computer after receiving our permission. This is a great way to get technical support quickly. Busy executives also use remote access software to access their own PCs, laptops, etc. from anywhere. Now remote access apps for smartphones and tablets have also come.

The Reserve Bank of India and other banks are often warned that with the help of such apps, fraudsters can take control of our smartphones and withdraw money from our banking account! A similar warning was given by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) before the Reserve Bank.

That means remote access technology itself is not bad, but fraudsters have found a way to abuse it.

What do we care about?

1) Do not install any app on your phone, especially from strangers.

2) Never give any OTP to anyone in your phone.

3) Mobile wallets There are two types of KVC method: Full KVC and Minimum KVC. Wallet usage is limited to the minimum KVC.

4) Minimum KVC process does not require any support, we can do this manually by following the instructions in the app.

5) Flower KVC can only be completed by going to the Authorized KVC Point (which may also be a store near us) of such company and providing documents proving our identity.

6) The wallets are never called from the company to install an app.

7) If you get cashback under any offer in mobile wallet no link is sent to get it. That amount is directly deposited into our mobile wallet. So if you get a message saying that you have received a cashback and click on a link to get it, do not ignore it or forward it to others.

8) Employee of any mobile wallet like bank will never ask us for our PIN, OTP, password, password reset link, CV / PIN or other details of debit / credit card. Never tell anyone on the phone such details.

9) Find the 'App Permissions' option in the phone's settings and see which app you have allowed to access your SMS.

10) It does not matter if the financial services like Bhima, Paytm or Google Pay or the well known service like Google Play Store and Messages that allow SMS access to your own mobile company's app but withdraw any app allowed to read SMS. Take it.
