Social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. Also on this platform is posted content which is against the country. Now the Indian government is going to launch a crackdown on hat speeches on social media platforms at the beginning of the new year.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information (MEI) has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on social media site for hat speech. There is a rule on social media sites to put a halt to many tasks, including hat speeches, so that the platform can be safer and better.
A hearing will be held in the Supreme Court to prevent the misuse of social media. The hearing can run in the last week of January 2020. Requests linking social media to Aadhaar are pending in Madras, Madhya Pradesh and Bombay High Court.
MEI has stated in its affidavit that it is considering the content posted on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, which is responsible for the social media provider. At the same time, the government told Lok that we will come up with a new rule for the social media from January 15, 2020 and also inform the providers.
