46% of children in India do not get eye examination, survey

A recent survey found that 46% of Indian households have parents regularly checking their children's eye for a child who is more likely to have eye problems than children 12 years of age or younger. The survey included approximately 1000 families from 10 cities.

The survey found that an estimated 68 percent of Indians believe that children's eyesight is important to them, but only 46 percent of their children take their children for regular eye tests. According to ophthalmologists, an average of 23 to 30 percent of children in India suffer from myopia.

They are more likely to have children who live in urban areas and spend less time outside. Such children spend more time on digital devices such as TVs, mobiles, computers, which can make their vision worse.

According to experts, air pollution causes even more damage to the eyes of children. Frequent eye irritation can also weaken the eye. Children under the age of 12 need a nutritious diet and adequate sleep to protect their eyes. In addition, children need to stay away from digital devices.
