Blessed is the Grihasthashram:
Even in this Purana-sacred culture, Varnashrama Dharma was organized for the order and regulation of the affairs of the people. It was divided according to caste and age. The life span of a man was divided into four sections, assuming a hundred years, and the duties to be performed by men in each age group were also fixed. The first 3 years of his life were of Brahmacharyashram. During that time the man went through childhood, adolescence and youth.
In this Brahmacharyashram, he was trained in the upbringing of a child and the general manners of the home and society, living conditions, habits and the rites of primary education, and then he was trained in business and job. For the next 3 years, he worked in a homestead, raising money, and raising a family.
In short, he mostly supported the people of the three monasteries except his own. He also did other religious and spiritual works, socially useful philanthropic works and for the entertainment of his family as per the scope and convenience. The next 3 years of Vanprastha Ashram is the time to retire from trade, business, job. In it, he was the elder of the house, giving counsel to others.
He used to do small and big chores of the house, religious work like Dev-Darshan, Seva-puja and work useful to the society according to his scope. Sannyasashram of last 8 to 100 years, leaving home-world, religious service-teaching, fasting-penance etc. Considered to do such religious works. It was time to move around and give stories and sermons as per convenience.
The poet says that Grihasthashram is considered to be the best. Because it makes it possible to do business as well as other religious and public works. Here are a few examples.
The house is full of joy. Sons are intelligent, wife is sweet, his friend is virtuous and rich, his wife is full of love, and servants are Kahyagara, the guest is welcomed in the house, where Mahadev Shankar is worshiped. Blessed is the Grihasthashram where sweets are served at home every day and where satsangs of monks and men are held daily, the best of all ashrams.
The scriptures say that after death a person dies, nothing goes with it. Only religion goes alone. That is why the virtue of the holy deeds done by him goes with him, and he gets the result of his success. This is the only Grihasthashram in the four ashrams. Which gives man the opportunity to perform religious, auspicious deeds in addition to worldly deeds and to live in a holy environment at the same time. That is why the ashram is the best.
