Sadhana: The Mysterious Lady in White of Bollywood

The most allegorical and successful actress of the seventies Sadhana's fellow actors Manoj Kumar and Viswajit chew old memories

Sa Dhana was the most metaphorical and charming actress in Bollywood. Today, if a Bollywood film completes 100 days in the theater, then that film is considered a super hit. The success party is a colorful celebration. However, in the seventies, Sadhana's films were not in theaters for 100 days (three months) but for 6 weeks.

The reason for remembering the sadhana at this stage is that the rainy season is currently flooding all over India. It is raining profusely from the sky of Mumbai, from Sadhana's memorable film 'Wah Kaun Thi? (12) 's funny song Naina Barse Rimzim Rimzim "" It is natural to remember in such a rainy environment. Besides, last September 8 was also the 8th birth anniversary of Sadhana. Bollywood remembered Sadhana for both these reasons. His memoirs were bitten.

People associated with Sadhana's films in the older generation of Bollywood, i.e. in the 70s and 80s, say that Sadhana Shivdasa was a superhit and popular actress of her time. Sadhna's film 'Wah Kaun Thi' and its lyrics' Naina Barse Rimzim 'e Lag Ja Gale Ki Phir Yeh Hasi Raat Ho Na Ho'.

Today, five decades later, all of these songs resonate in music. In the film 'Wah Kaun Thi', Sadhana played the effective role of a mysterious young woman wearing a white sari. Sadhana was also nicknamed 'Lady in White' due to her sharp eyes and enigmatic humor in the film.

Manoj Kumar has acted in the film Wah Kaun Thi and Vishwajit in the film Ishq Par Zor Nahin with Sadhana who started his acting career in Hindi films with the film 'Love in Shimla' (190). Both the actors are currently alive. That is why Manoj Kumar and Vishwajit chewed the reminiscences of working with their sadhana. Thus Sadhana worked with big names and popular actors like Rajendra Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Balraj Sahani in different films.

Manoj Kumar recalls reminiscing with the film 'Wah Kaun Thi', saying that at that time we were shooting in Kufri, a tourist destination bursting with natural beauty near Shimla. The director of the film Raj Khosla Naina Barse was preparing to shoot the song "Rimzim Rimzim".

Thus this song is sung by Latta Mangeshkar. But the recording of the song could not be done on time as Lataji fell ill in those days. That is why the music director of the film Madan Mohan himself sang the song and recorded it. During the shooting of the song, Sadhana was getting the rhythm of her lip movement with the words of the song in Madanmohan's voice instead of Lataji's voice in the recording of the song.

The funny thing was that a lot of people from Kufri and surrounding areas had gathered to watch the shooting of the film. Now during the shooting of this song, the people were amazed to see Sadhana Lataji's voice being matched with Madan Mohan's voice instead of a man's. Many of them even said in a loud voice that hey, look, even though Sadhana is an actress, she sings a song in the voice of a man. However, they did not know the true situation, so they had a good laugh.

"I politely suggested director Raj Khosla to choose the equipment for the film 'Wah Kaun Thi'," says Manoj Kumar, producer-director of superhit films like Upkaar, Roti Kapada Aur Makan, Shore and Purab Aur Paschim. So Saadna herself was eager to work with me in this mysterious film. However, there were doubts about the success of the film. So Sadhana had a little hesitation in pairing with me.

I was convinced of the success of the film by dispelling the doubts of the sadhana at that stage. Talked about the importance of aspects like story, screenplay and music of the film. Sadhana finally agreed to play the role of a mysterious young lady in the film.

Manoj Kumar says, thus I was also writing screenplays for films at that stage. However, I used to write screenplays for other people. So my name was not mentioned. Eventually I wrote the script for the film 'Wah Kaun Thi' and my name was officially announced in it. Thus, from the film 'Wah Kaun Thi', besides being an actor, I also became an independent screenwriter. Yes, the film's director Raj Khosla also had a lot of discussions with me.

I would sit in a corner during the shooting and write about the phased events of the film and that way the shooting would go on. Director Raj Khosla called me 'Panditji' and he had a lot of respect for my writing style and writing skills. The funny thing was that I also made a poster of 'Wah Kaun Thi'. In the poster design I created scenes where my back is in front of the camera while the face of the instrument is in front of the camera.

Apart from Manoj Kumar, Vishwajit and Dharmendra also worked with Sadhana. Sadhna, Dharmendra and Vishwajit had a trio in 'Ishq Par Zor Nahin' (190). In this romantic film, Dharmendra (Ram) and Vishwajit (Amar) have played the role of close friends. While Sadhana has played a funny role of a young lady named Sushma.

"In the final scenes of the film, my film father (Abhi Bhattacharya) fires at a large petrol tank," says Vishwajit, recalling what happened during the shooting of the film. The reason was that Sushma (Sadhna) is in love with my friend Ram (Dharmendra) instead of marrying me (Amar). Sushma and Ram sit in a boat and try to escape. The firing broke the petrol tank and spilled their petrol into the sea.

As a result, the lives of Sushma and Ram are in danger. At exactly the same stage, Amar jumps into the sea to save his best friend Ram and Sushma. "Despite all our precautions, the fire actually spread in the sea," says Viswajit. Is. I found myself surrounded by flames. There was no fire brigade facility at that time.

As a result I also panicked. However the action director of the film used a forcible timing and immediately threw a long iron chain at me. The action director gestured for me to grab the chain, dive into the sea, and come ashore. Luckily I was a good swimmer and came safely to the shore. All the members, including Dharmendra and Sadhana, were horrified by such an unexpected and dangerous event. Even so, by the grace of God, Dharmendra and Sadhana, including me, are all happy.
