Sapphire: In the films of the 80's and 90's and now, there is the edge of the abyss

- I didn't find the kind of character being offered interesting to me. So I decided that what I really needed to do was learn how to do it right. Also, I was learning our family business while working in films.

Young viewers who watched Neelam Kothari Sony's films in the 70's and 80's will still remember her innocent, beautiful face. At that time, Neelam had gained a unique place in the hearts of millions of viewers with her impressive personality and acting in a number of films like 'Jawani', 'Ilzaam' and 'Khudgarz'. There were plenty of discussions about his on-screen chemistry with Govinda at the time. His dance style in particular became the most beloved among the audience.

However, Neelam decided not to work in films at the brightest time of her career. Today, Neelam, who is known as a jewelery designer, sometimes appears as a special guest in reality shows. But at a stage in her career when no actress would even think of leaving the field of acting, Neelam says about taking such a drastic decision that I did not find the kind of characters being offered to me interesting. So I decided that what I really needed to do was learn how to do it right. Also, I was learning our family business while working in films. In fact I have always been committed to our family business of jewelry.

The actress says about her last two films that after I left the acting field, I got 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hota Hai' (KKHH) and 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' (HSSH). As a friend, Karan Johar told me, 'You have to play yourself.' You will really enjoy doing these cameos. And I accepted to work in it. I had no idea at the time that KKHH's 'Sapphire Show' would bring me so much fame.

In fact, the younger generation knew me from this film. When Suraj Badjatya sincerely wanted me to work in HSSH. Although I told them I no longer work in films. But he persuaded me to work in it. Although I have done 20 films in my career, I got my true identity only in the last two films. I handled our jewelry business and still do.

"When I started working in films, I was very young and I didn't even understand when stereotyping took place," says Neelam, recalling the '90s. At that time, only heroes were given more importance in films. It has a lot of ground in the movies of that time and now. Now feminist films are being made. He further says that now there is a lot of subject variation in films so I also want to act again. And I've also done a little bit of shooting for a project. Although at the present stage I can't say much more about it.

The actress adds that I was also offered another project. But for that I had to stay abroad for 3 days. And I didn't want to leave my husband-daughter for so many days in Corona's time so I refused to work in it. But I will definitely accept any good offer in the future.
