Bhavanjali to Amitabh's Dilip Kumar

- Film history will always be known as 'before Dilip Kumar and after Dilip Kumar'

Two months have passed since the death of Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar has been suffering from Alzheimer's for the last few years. His two younger brothers died in Covid in 2020. Dilip Kumar was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in June with respiratory problems. He died on the morning of July 9 after a long illness. Doctors treating him said he was suffering from advanced prostate cancer that had spread to other parts of his body. Dilip Kumar is gone and his fans will always remember him but the artists who have considered Dilip Kumar as an ideal and have also worked with him will be remembered more. Amitabh Bachchan has written a blog refreshing his memories of Dilip Kumar. In this blog, Amitabh Bachchan has described emotional occasions.

Amitabh Bachchan writes that when you sit back and reminisce about the past years, some reminiscences come to mind very clearly. There was a time when it was a privilege to watch movies in the 180's. When your friends in the theater came back to their haunt after watching a movie, they would inform you about the movie.

But then there came a day when you started watching the film yourself and then you started commenting on the film yourself. One name that kept ringing all the time was Dilip Kumar's name. Sometimes it happens that the name of the film or its story is not remembered but the dialogues spoken by Dilip Kumar are remembered. There was something special about his presence. When they appeared on the screen, everything around them was blurred. When they spoke dialogue, you could hear the clang of truth in it. And it all stayed with you when you came home after watching the movie.

Recalling the occasion when Amitabh Bachchan met Dilip Kumar as a young fan, he writes that when he went to a restaurant in Mumbai in 190, he accidentally saw Dilip Kumar talking to someone in front of the restaurant. Amitabh saw Dilip Kumar and asked for his autograph. But since he did not have any paper or pen, Amitabh went out to get the book. When he returned with the book, Dilip Kumar was still talking to the gentleman. Amitabh asked for his autograph. But Dilip Kumar left without giving any response. Amitabh writes that seeing Dilip Kumar personally was more important to him than an autograph.

Regarding Dilip Kumar's eloquence, Amitabh writes that no one had the scope to complain about his eloquence as he could not imagine any alternative to the way he eloquently spoke.

Amitabh Yadav further writes that hundreds of years have passed, hundreds of visits and many conversations have taken place with him, worked with him and now I stand in front of his grave today. Below the pile of flowers they are fast asleep and there is no one around. A mountain of art, a great creator, even better than the best and now its transformation into just a small tomb.

But the world has not stopped yet, it continues. Even today they are among us, as a memento, their deeds, all the moments spent with them, everything is here.

We should thank the cinema because we can watch them whenever we want, in our homes, in theaters, in our mobiles, we can still enjoy what they have put up. Film history will always be known as Dilip Kumar before and after Dilip Kumar.
