- 'Acting is still my importance, that's my break-butter. I keep saying that I deserve a movie that I can do. I want to do an out-of-the-box thriller
Actor-producer Neil Nitin Mukesh has been trying his hand at pen for the last one and a half years and has written two feature films and a web series. Which will be built under its banner for OTT. In 2013, Neil Nitin Mukesh became a producer and made a thriller called 'Bypass Road', which was directed by his brother Nam. In which he plays the main accused in the murder, whose life is confined to a wheelchair and whose own life is in danger. Here Neil talks to Nitish Mukesh, let us know about his future plans.
'We are currently working on two feature films. Which are both based on Murder Mystery. We are working on these projects in collaboration with another production house, which will be released directly on OTT. I have also written the story of this film and also the screenplay. Has also envisioned a web series revolving around serial killers, both urban and modern. The concept is very crazy. However, in order to take credit for this, it has to be discussed with others, 'said Neil, adding that the idea would be developed on an international concept. OTT offers an opportunity to shape the genre of some genres that, especially if released in Indian theaters, may not be well received.
When the whole world came to a standstill due to the Corona epidemic, he even prepared three projects: - In this regard, Neil said with a smile, 'There are so many such projects. I like to have a lot of work in my hands and my mind is busy. I am fortunate that my wife is sporty and my family gives me enough time and space when I need to work as a writer. Looking back at the situation, this unexpected and forced break turned out to be a wonderful opportunity for me. When you are shooting you can write a few lines throughout the day as you are busy memorizing the lines written by others at that time. Sometimes it is in Hindi, sometimes in Tamil or Telugu, but surprisingly, when I sat down to write one of the various stories, the shooting of 'Bypass Road' was going on.
"As I was sitting in Alibag at midnight shooting some film sequences, I suddenly thought, 'What if something like this happens?' I nodded. When told, he said, 'Oh my God, this is crazy!' He asked me to develop the idea, but he insisted that I listen to him only after the shooting of 'Bypass Road' was over. He also warned that we are going to make another part, there should be no similarity with it and with that another murder mystery was born. (The story, screenplay and dialogues of 'Bypass Road' are also by Neil Nitin.) This is completely original and very different from our first project. However, I can't say anything right now about another project that I am writing with another author and that is Mumbai-centric. '
Do you work in both the films, Neil Nitin denied it saying ‘I only work in one and Naman directs the other one. We are going to cooperate with others regarding others. NMM Films It's not just about the NMM Brothers. '
In response to another question, Neil Nitin said, "Acting is still my importance, that's my break-butter. I keep saying that if I have a worthy film, tell me what I can do. I want to do an out-of-the-box thriller, but such films are rarely written and are dominated by some filmmakers. Take for example Shriram Raghavan who made the film 'Johnny Gaddar' which made me shine and he is also my guru. And Sujoy Ghosh too. This is a favorite subject of Abbas-Mustan and Ram Gopal Varma who used to make such films. Anurag Kashyap has parted ways with this genre. He did a good pick-up in the beginning, for which OTT was thankful. However no one has offered me that exciting role yet. I have decided to take up the pen for some concept in this space. '
"I don't care how long I get, no matter how big or small the roll, it should be interesting. I am a long race horse. My race is too long, I don't want to run 100 meters. My goal is to reach the number one position, 'he said.
"I'm inspired by Western thrillers," he said, adding that "I love Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones' 19-year-old film The Fugitive." I also love Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park' series Agatha Christie's Murder Mysteries. I wonder why we don't use such a topic. There are no cinemas that appeal to me. '
Regarding the new acting projects, Neil Nitin said, "Oh, 'Fikri' was shot many years ago. When we were making this film, it looked very interesting. It is over. I don't know why the makers of the film have not taken advantage of the situation and released it on OTT yet. '
'Saho' and 'Bypass Road' - these two films took a lot of time. The films were supposed to be released in August 2018, then in November. The epidemic broke out so I hurried to start a new film. The first lockdown was announced in 2020, three days after 'Bypass Road' was streamed. I didn't do anything after this, but the film I started was slammed. Even so, thank you for using this time to create a lot of content and now I'm fully prepared to go on the floor, 'said Neil.
