Ishwak Singh : The best experience was traveling across the country to perform plays

- 'I worked a lot in drama. Traveled across the country to perform plays. This was a great experience. After that I started getting films and I also worked in South Indian films. All credit goes to the casting director, who scouts talent from theatre-groups.'

'The Yater was the starting point of my journey and my progression happened very organically. I started with a workshop, which was a part of a theater group and traveled across the country to perform plays..' these are the words of actor Ishwak Singh who is doing the web series 'Pataalok'. The first part of this web series came to the digital platform, which was received enthusiastically by the audience. Now more part of this web series is going to come on digital platform, shooting and other works are going on.

It often happens that a character emerges from a film or a web series and grabs the attention of the audience without being a hero. One such actor is Ishwak Singh. Recently he was seen in a series as Vikram Sarabhai, a physicist from India. In that series, the actor appeared as a conscience keeper. Ishwak Singh studied to be an architect and ventured into acting by joining a theater group. After this, auditions were also given for films and TV. After small roles in 'Ranjana' and 'Malal', he got his big break in 'Paatalok' and now let's try to know his thoughts as the actor moves on.

What is the similarity between architecture and acting?- In response to a question, Ishwak Singh says, 'Why only architecture? Dancers, like actors and musicians, will find a ground between dance and acting. The same is possible in martial arts, which I had some training in. There are similarities. The basic principles of performing arts and art are similar, but when you compare architecture and acting, the art part of architecture has many similarities. This is a great art. It's not like there's a fixed way to do anything because it's always fluid when it comes to acting. So it has no set-pattern.'

'I did a lot of work in drama and traveled around the country performing plays. This was a great experience. After this I started getting films and I also worked in South Indian films. All credit for this goes to the casting-director, who scouts talent from theatre-groups,' said Ishwak Singh.

Casting-directors have made a huge contribution to the kind of web-series that are being made today, when I watched great films like 'Black Friday' and 'Gangs of Wasseypur', every frame of those films seemed extraordinary to me. These films became more inspiring for me,' said Ishwak Singh, adding, 'Casting in these films - the directors chose senior actors. Although my casting director did not speak to me when I got the 'Paatalok' series, but I got to know in an interview.'

Before playing Emraan Ansari's role in 'Patalok', how did he prepare for it?- In response to a question, Ishwak Singh said, 'It all depends on how you prepare for everything. The best thing for me is reading text, which sends you to organic trailers and inspires you to read books and meet people. Every time you play a new character whose mindset you're not familiar with, that's refreshing and when you get that insight, it's eye-opening,' said Ishwak Singh.
