"Venerable Saints and leaders of different religions present from all over the world, General Minister of National Religion General M. e. Kofi Annan, Honorable President of the Conference Mr. Ted Turner and the organizers, it is a moment of great joy and divine realization to see so many religious men gathered in one place like this today. This first conference of its kind has been held under the guidance of Rashtra Sangh. We heartily welcome these bold steps. This only proves the important role of religion in establishing peace in the world.
A role of mutual exchange and harmony between religions is our urgent need. Religious leaders should meet frequently and continue to meet leaders of other religions. A condition of free communication should be established between each other.
When we met the Pope in 1984, many journalists asked, "What is the purpose of the meeting of the heads of two religions?" We answered, "When two heads of different religions meet, a good atmosphere of friendship and understanding is created, besides the two religions." A role of harmony will be created between, the mutual bitterness of the followers of the two religions will be reduced, and the relationship will be encouraged.” A single visit, a simple conversation, can make a good impression on the minds of millions of people. We often say, 'Spread mutual love, that is religion!'
Unity in diversity is the essence of life,
Shared development is the secret of peace
In a time when there is more awareness about the environment, we have realized the value of life and the environment. Striving to preserve all forms of life. Then what about religious diversity? May every religion survive and prosper. No major religion needs to raise its sword against smaller religious groups. Religious leaders need not dream of one world religion. Imagine a world where all religions are one. Unity in diversity is the lesson of life. Shared development is the secret of peace. If our followers are united, our religion becomes strong and stable, similarly if all religions are united, our future will be strong and stable. Let us remember that every culture, every religion on this earth is a gold mine - rich in values, wisdom and vision. Rich! Come, let us share in this great legacy, build a common platform of values upon which the good of humanity can stand strong. Since the time of the Rigveda, Hindus have envisioned a vast world where there are no boundaries anywhere. Look at this prayer - 'Aa no bhadra: kratvo yantu viswat:'. May we receive noble thoughts from all directions.
Our Guru Yogiji Maharaj often said: 'Mine is not good, good is mine.' The Upanishads say, 'Ishavasyam idam sarvam, yat kinch jagatyam jagat' - in every person, in every thing is the divine abode of God. This spiritual unity connects us with the entire creation. The Vedas say, 'Amritsya putra vayam' - we are all children of God.
Lord Swaminarayan says, “We are all Atman – pure spiritual entities. In this there are no bonds of religion, world, community, country.
And the Mahabharata says, 'Atmavat Sarva Bhuteshu...' Protect others as much as yourself.
Prevent obsession by communicating with followers…
It is not enough for religious leaders to talk among themselves. Communication with our own followers is also very important. A religious leader alone can convert his followers. If every religion focuses on improving the self-knowledge of its followers, their faith in the religion will increase and fanaticism will decrease. Let us teach our followers that the spread of religion depends not only on the number of followers, but on the quality of their spirituality. Width doesn't matter, depth does. A Hindu should become a good Hindu. A Jew should be a good Jew, a Christian a good Christian and a Muslim a good Muslim. If the followers of every religion try to be true and good followers, our world will undoubtedly be a better world. So let us divert our followers from the path of fanaticism, towards faith and a beautiful life. Lord Swaminarayan changed the life of a hoof bandit like Joban Pugi.
