- To prove that I am a versatile actress, I will not accept any film of any genre. Also, I don't even reject a good film out of fear of being typecast.
Taapsee Pannu who is known for doing Mahila Pradhan films has a habit of being in the news. Whether his films work or not. As such, her last released film 'Blur' did not create much waves. Yes, it needs some innovation. The point is that Taapsee Pannu has made her debut as a producer with this film. In fact, she wanted to enter the construction field for a long time. In fact, it was only when she started working as an actress in 'Blur' that the thought started swirling in her mind that what if I become a co-producer of this film!
Taapsee says, 'Thoughts of producing a film were swirling in my heart for many times. Meanwhile, I got an offer to work in 'Blur', a remake of the film 'Julia's Eyes' by Spanish director Oriol Paulo. I am already a huge fan of this filmmaker. Earlier I did his 'Invisible Guest' remake 'Badla' and 'Miraj' adaptation 'Dobara'. I thought that 'Blur' is the only way I will enter the field of production, what would be more sad than that? Also, this film could be made on a limited budget. I wanted to keep the choice of his actors in my hands. Most importantly, 'Blur' will still be as presentable a decade from now. So, by all means it felt right for me to venture into the field of film making.'
'Blur' is a psychological thriller, which streamed directly on OTT a few days ago. Taapsee has recently acted in thriller films like 'Badla', 'Game Over', 'Hasin Dilruba', 'Loop Lapeta', 'Dobara'. Naturally, her fans may feel that she is being typecast. Taapsee says, 'To prove that I am a versatile actress, I do not accept any film of different genres. Also, I don't even reject a good film out of fear of being typecast. I loved the screenplays of all these films so I worked in 'Blur' apart from all these films.'
The funny thing is that 'Badla', 'Dobara', 'Loop Lapeta', 'Blur' - all these are remakes. So Taapsee is being called the remake queen along with the actresses who value women-led films. However, the actress doesn't mind it at all. He says, 'I prefer remakes of successful films than weak original content. Also, in all these movies the 'Hero' has been replaced by 'Heroine'. Ever since I came of age, I watched mostly male-dominated films. So I am more interested in doing movies with female leads.'
Since Taapsee has become a producer, many people are starting to believe that she will now talk about taking a profit share. The actress says about this, 'I have earned a lot by taking profit share in two or three South Indian films. I want to try for that in Bollywood too. However, this issue is not as simple as it seems. The profit share goes only to those artists whose names make audiences flock to the theatres. I will not hesitate to ask for a profit share when I feel that I am capable of pulling the audience to the theaters alone.'
Anyone who has seen 'Blur' likes Taapsee's role as a blind girl. However, Taapsee found this role difficult. She was mentally exhausted. Says Taapsee, 'It was while doing this mentally exhausting film that I decided to take up a lighter film. I felt the need to do a lighter film to get out of the burden of this role. This is why I chose to act in the comedy film 'Wo Ladki Hai Kahan'. In this, Pratik Gandhi is the hero. I have also signed another light movie 'Dhunki'. I think these films will take away the fatigue of the tough roles I have played for a long time.'
Taapsee doesn't like paparazzi at all. He says, 'I am very polite with people from the media who sit down and talk to me, but taking someone's photo is like trying to pry into their private life. I don't like this at all. Am I just a little zoo animal that someone will follow me with a camera?'
It is true.
