More than 6 tablespoons of sugar a day can cause these serious illnesses: WHO

The World Health Organization has advised on reducing the consumption of sugar, salt and oil by raising concerns about the health of people of all countries around the world. According to a WHO report, India's estimated 35 million people will suffer from serious illnesses by 2020. The WHO also advised in this report to reduce sugar, salt and oil consumption. Excessive use of these items can cause a person to have type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart attack and kidney fatal illnesses.

According to the WHO, an adult should consume only 6 tablespoons of sugar a day. In addition, 1 teaspoon salt and 4 tablespoons of oil should be used in 1 day diet. According to a report by the Indian Medical Association, an average person in India consumes 16 to 20 tablespoons of sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoons salt and 8 tablespoons of oil a day. These figures are worrying.

Sugar is not just milk, it is added to tea but sugar is what we get from food. There are several types of sugar, including maltose, fructose, galactose and lactose. Milk contains lactose, fructose from fruit, honey and vegetables and sucrose from sugar.
