Twitter deleted 6000 accounts, was reversed post

New Delhi, December 22, 2019, Sunday

Twitter has closed more than 6,000 accounts. The accounts closed by Twitter are all from Saudi Arabia. On closing these accounts, Twitter has stated that all these users violated its rules and targeted other users. The embassy from Saudi Arabia has not yet commented on the matter.

Twitter has said that it has identified 88,000 accounts that are spam. Spam content is served on a special issue from one of these accounts. Of these, 5,929 accounts have been deleted. In August this year, Twitter closed two million Chinese accounts that are included in Hong Kong Protest.

This account suspension is part of a similar decision in which social media companies said they would not allow offensive and inaccurate content on their platforms. In 2016, too, during the US elections, many accounts were closed in Russia. These accounts were being used to benefit political parties.

It is worth mentioning that Delhi Police has recently written letters from various social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, to remove and disable objectionable content from over 60 accounts. While giving this information on Thursday, an official said police were working to curb rumors against the Revised Citizenship Act (CAA).

He said that the police have also appealed to the public to inform them about the rumored user's account. The Delhi Police has written to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to remove the offending content on their platform, a senior official said. "We have been monitoring the social media handle for the last three-four days and identifying objectionable content and disturbing posts," he said.
