Wonder amphibian: salamander

De dacos are born in the water as tadpoles and live on land as adults. Animals that live half life in water and half on land are called amphibians. Frogs are well-known, but the Mexican salamander is unique in that it is home to some 200 amphibians.

The salamander is a lizard-shaped creature with orange dots on a black body. This animal with short legs and tail is found in the countries of the Northern Hemisphere. It can grow up to five feet tall when it becomes an adult. Some salamanders have longer tongues than their bodies. The giant salamander found in China is like a giant snail. The largest species of salamander is found in North America. Some salamanders have venomous bites.

Salamanders hunt small creatures during the night. Live by rate in the ground during the day. A 6-inch-long salamander named Adappi makes a dog barking sound, also called a waterdog.
