A simple person becomes a character of respect everywhere ... a hypocrite becomes a character of disbelief everywhere ..
- Tribute to Amrit - Acharya Vijayarajaratnasuri
Just by looking at the definition of the word 'kashay' given by Jain philosophy, it is clear that kashayo is a dangerous obstacle for the devotee of the meaning of self-welfare. The definition of the word 'kashay' in Jain scriptures is as follows: kash = world and i = benefit. From which life is benefited by the world, that is, the name of the tradition of wandering the world is lost. In essence, this definition is that kashayo is the main driving factor of the bhavaparampara-choryashi cycle of life.
Anger-respect-love-greed: Out of these four kashayas now we have to think maya-kashay. Maya means deception. The inner personality is different and the outer person is completely different: this is the form of maya-hypocrisy. The Hindi proverb fits perfectly with the personality of a hypocrite that 'Ram in the mouth and a knife in the armpit.' If we think after the loss of hypocrisy from the spiritual point of view, one thing is certain that from the social point of view, hypocrisy makes a person unreliable for a Sami person. Even if the hypocrite is sitting in the cafe saying 'I can deceive others with sifat.' But the reality is that in this one-two-time context it’s like remembering that ‘you can fool a person for a long time. But not everyone can be fooled for long. ' Want to know how creepy a person's condition becomes when his hypocrisy is exposed? So read this satirical joke:
The saint was pleased to receive an invitation to a meal from the emperor. They were happy, not with the hope that the food would be good, but with the hope that the emperor would have a chance. On the appointed day, the saint arrived at the palace with the emperor who had come to take him with honor. They were constantly wondering when the emperor would get a chance to win. It was time for the pre-meal prayer. The saint took the opportunity fast and prayed at length. At that time, he also created the appearance of intoxication in such a way that the emperor was overwhelmed by his devotion. Then came the meal. In this too the saint did a trick to impress the emperor. He did not accept any of the best desserts that the emperor asked the saint for. The saints got up immediately after eating only a very simple meal of dal-roti. His intention was to impress the emperor with his apostasy.
After the satsang, the emperor came to meet the saint at his cottage. At the last bow the emperor was still out of the cottage when the saint ordered the disciple: Bring some begging soon. Cucumber is hungry. ' The disciple asked in surprise: 'Ouch! You just picked up the emperor from there. What was the lack of food there that made me hungry immediately? ' The saint said: 'Mad! There I had to impress the emperor. I knew I was hungry. ' The emperor, standing outside the cottage, overheard the conversation, and all the excellent impressions of the saint vanished from his mind. The emperor entered the cottage and shouted, 'Mahatmaji! Then pray again, just like a meal. Because even that long prayer must have been done to please me, not to please the Lord. ' The condition of the saint became such that he could not bleed.
The hypocrisy-maya that gives a person such a setback in front of others, the Maya gives a very terrible setback from the point of view of spirituality-religion. The author of 'Adhyatmakalpadrum' points out this in the seventh right and says: 'O seeker! If you practice Shastrabhyas-Dharmakriya-Ugra Tapascharya-Kshmashilta etc. with hypocrisy, then it will not benefit you except Kayaklesh and you will not even get those Shastrabhyasadi Dharmalambans in Bhavantar! ' If you become elusive in the verse related to how strictly it is presented, even the support of swimming will not be yours and it will become impossible to find the support of that support in the next life.
If we want to make our Dharmasadhana fruitful, we must 'get rid' of hypocrisy. Lord Mahavira himself commands in Uttaradhyayan Agam that 'Sohi Ujjubhuyass, Dhammo Suddhass Chitvai. This means that only the pure-hypocritical soul is possible to purify and the true religion can survive only in the one who attains purity.
One last thing: a simple person is respected everywhere. The hypocrite becomes the object of distrust everywhere.
