Minari: The planting of dreams.

- Films are usually presented by exaggerating, adding many colors of imagination. This film is completely different in that respect. A South Korean family struggling to stabilize the United States has maintained its position. The Japanese name for what we call coriander is minari. The film received six Oscar nominations, including one award.

Citizens from many countries come to America to settle down, cultivate dreams and become prosperous. The family, who came from South Korea with similar dreams, flew from a prosperous state like California to Arkansas in the 19th century. The family consisted of four members, Jacob, his wife Monica, daughter Ann, and young child David. When she arrived in Arkansas with her luggage, she saw the place and said that it was not what I thought it would be. Because the space was actually an empty farm.

Leaving the high-rise buildings of California, the family came here to live among the wild plant-vines. But Jacob was stubborn, and Monica didn't like the place at all. The children were not yet ready to like or dislike.

Here I started living in a house with one wheel, attached to the back of a truck and taken anywhere. The house was on the farm and the farm itself was in the garden. So there was no one living nearby, no other farm. It was Jacob's intention to grow Korean produce here and sell it to Dallas traders.

There was nothing wrong with leaving the city and adopting a rural life, but if you succeed, the first challenge was to level the barren land. An older brother named Paul, who had fought in the Korean War, was found. Were capricious and lonely. He joined Jacob in farming. No need to spend money on water so Jacob arranged for water to be obtained from the farm itself. Also called the one who knows where the water is.

David-Monica also got a job at a nearby factory as a temporary arrangement until this new income started. There were some Koreans already working there. There was a church nearby, and the family was gone. Jacob and Monica were both doing their own thing, but there were arguments over the issue. Monica didn't like the place, and it was here that Jacob began to dream.

Who cares for the children while the work is going on? Monica deported her mother, Sun-jane, from Korea. David met Nani, but Nani didn't like him. David was young, so what do you know about his likes and dislikes? Nani had to sleep in the same room with David. David-Nani started living together so gradually the dislike also started to go away. We started walking to the forest area near the small house and started planting a plant called Minari (a type of coriander plant) in Korea on the bank of a small reservoir. Nani explained to David that the minaret plant could grow easily anywhere and come in handy in many ways. Nani also taught David a card game, etc. David became interested in all these new activities.

There was a new trouble on the farm. The farm well was empty, there was no water. So it was mandatory to buy. That cost went up. The buyer, who was supposed to sell the farm, canceled the order at the last minute. Jacob's difficulty increased. Disagreements with Monica also escalated, so at one point Jacob got bored and said that if I didn't succeed here, then you could go your own way.

Woke up one morning to find that Nani had a stroke. Survived treatment, but the body became paralyzed. One hand stopped working, and I started having trouble speaking. Came here to help but now the former himself needed help. Meanwhile, it was time to show David's health in the nearby city of Oklahoma. Because David's heart was troubled from childhood. The little one had to leave home alone. Monica made as much food as she could for her mother and arranged for her to at least move.

Luckily the doctor checked David's heart and said that the condition is good, the hole in the heart is slowly getting worse so he doesn't have to have surgery anymore. But unfortunately Monica-Jacob disagreed again and decided that we would break up later. Departed to return home. One more misfortune was created on the farm. Nanima was collecting garbage and trying to burn it. Garbage was burnt as well as the godown where the farm produce was stored. The family arrived just before the fire broke out, and Jacob-Monica saved enough to save her life.

That is why the film is not finished. Then came a turning point. It's like watching a movie. Basically a family struggle story. There are big and small problems in anyone's life. Korean actress Yoon has won an Oscar for Supporting Actress for her role as Nani. He became the first artist to win an Oscar for Korea. Some foreign-English reviewers have called the film extremely tragic. Is tragic, but not incredibly tragic. The common man suffers more in his life than anywhere else shown in the film. Presenting it properly is the art of the filmmaker.

The funniest thing about the film is the simple story and its simple presentation. There are no imaginary ups and downs in the film, no false dialogue, no unimaginable twists. The role of baby David in the film is also interesting. The number of characters is small and the film is completed in one or two locations. But there is breath in the story so it is fun to watch everyone. The film is the story of a family that was to grow anywhere like a minaret.

The success of the realization

Director Lee Isaac Chang has introduced his feelings in this film. Because he is Korean. Came to America from Korea with dreams. The director grew up in the same rural environment of Arkansas. The job was to start a full-time teacher job by dropping the film line. There was some time in between, when I wrote the script. He added his own struggle and experience. That experience ultimately led to global success.
