Actor Rajneesh Duggal, who made his Hindi film debut with Vikram Bhatt's '150', later made films like 'Dangerous Ishq', 'Lal Rang' and 'Ek Paheli Lila'. And now he will also be seen in the psychological thrillers 'Flood' and 'Uprising'.
The actor says about his films that I am playing the role of an alcoholic in Flood. I have never done such a role before. This character became more challenging for me because I started working on 'Flood' soon after I finished shooting 'Rebellion'. In fact, I played the role of a Dalit in 'Bagawat'. And in 'Flood' I had to play the role of a drunkard. I found it challenging as there was a lot of difference between the two roles. Rajneesh further says that 'Bagavat' is a film 'Shudra-2'. In 'Shudra-1' there is talk of persecuting Dalits while in 'Bagavat' these Dalits become rebels. For this film I did a lot of study about Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Dalits. We also shot it with dalits in Lucknow. Soon after the shooting of this film, I started playing the role of a drunkard to hide my weaknesses.
Some artists follow real people like their characters to present their character in real form. There are also examples of some actresses getting drunk on set for their roles. But Rajneesh says that the day I started my acting career, I decided that I would never go on set drunk. I kept this decision on the set of 'Flood'. I asked the director for two-three days to prepare for this role. He also helped me a lot because of the context he gave me for this character. To be honest I have found such powerful characters on OTT.
It is not that these two films have been made for the actor's OTT. "I started working for OTT in 2012," says Rajneesh. So far I have done five projects. The lockdown came where it was supposed to be released. In addition to 'Rebellion', I have done a film about ghosts. We shot it in a palace in Wankaner, Gujarat. It has played a negative role. Apart from that, I have worked in 'Mandali' directed by Rakesh Chaturvedi Om. The film is made for the festival. I have also played a negative role in it, I have played a unique role in Partho Ghosh's 'Perfect Script' and I am playing an interesting role with Randeep Hooda in 'Inspector Avinash'.
Even if Rajneesh plays a negative role on screen. But in real life he is a good man. During the Corona period he has been working closely with several voluntary organizations. But he says social work is not a manifesto. My father has taught me that you give with one hand and the other hand should not know. The actor says that by helping others in such a difficult time, we are maintaining humanism. Giving his own example, he says that not long ago, my wife and my 11-year-old daughter came across the Corona. At that time our neighbor and we were sending breakfast and lunch as well as dinner. This is also a kind of social service.
Rajneesh further says about his tribes that it was only when the three of us were corona-stricken that we came to know that my two cousins were no longer in this world. Many of our relatives were on the ventilator.
But we could not afford to worry. We had to make sure that our 11-year-old daughter was not affected. But I wish this time would pass soon and everything would be as normal as before.
