There is a beautiful funny verse in 'Manu Smriti',
'Drishti putam nyasetpadam vastraputam jal pibet.
Satyaputan Vadedavacham Manah Purt Samacharet .. '
The sermon of Manu Smriti is stated in a nice phrase in the present verse. Just like before taking the first step to go anywhere, do an internal inspection to see if your step is in the right direction. If it is not done, you will wander in the dark. When taken in the wrong direction, failure will follow.
That is why it is further stated in the verse that water should always be filtered with a clean cloth. So that it is clean and pure and contains no harmful impurities. However the excellent punishment of this verse is in its final stage. All the good or bad deeds of a human being are the result of preconceived notions. Any action can be implemented in daily practice only after the honesty of its causes and the full accuracy of its validity before putting it into practice.
