Ra Ja had heard about heaven and hell all his life, but so far no saint has been able to show him the gates of heaven or hell. Eventually this king went to Avadhut who was meditating in the dense forest and asked him, 'All these religious people talk about heaven and hell day and night, but so far no one has been able to show me what this heaven or hell is, but also the door to enter it. I beg you to show me the gate. '

Avadhut listened to the king's wishes, but paid no heed to them. The king was upset. If he is the lord of a vast empire and an Avadhut does not even give him general respect, why does he run? Even so, the mind remained calm. Finally he said to Akalai, 'Babaji, do you know me? I am the sovereign king of this region. Not a single wheel can turn here without my consent. I am asking you a question and you are ignoring me instead of answering. '

Avadhut said, 'What did you say? You are the king of this region! You look like a normal beggar. Come be that king? If the king comes, how miserable the people will be! '

Hearing Avadhut's words, the king got angry. It happened that such a monk should be punished. Putting his hand on his scabbard, he drew his sword, then Avadhut said, 'Your sword is corroded. Never seem to be used in life. Just hanging on to the waist seems to scare Sahu. How the king's sword shines! '

The king was very angry. His face flushed with anger. When he drew his sword and rushed towards Avadhut, Avadhut said, 'King, look, the gates of hell are opening. The same hell. With so much anger and resentment, the same gates of hell, understand? '

The king realized his mistake. Found the essence of the saint's speech. He threw down his sword and grabbed hold of the saint's feet. The king said, 'Forgive me. I made a mistake, I could not understand the essence of your speech. How stupid and angry I rushed to kill you. Oh! What a mistake I made! '

Avadhut said, 'Rajan, look, now the gates of heaven are opening.'

That day the king realized that heaven and hell were nowhere to be found. Our good deeds are heaven and our bad deeds are hell.
