17: That is, it is only a matter of a few hundred years from today. A farmer named Raghuji Bhonsle from Nagpur grew an orange tree. It is true that Raghuji took care of the tree, but the environment here was so conducive to the orange that the tree fell off the orange.

Now an orange has heaps of seeds. Raghuji kept planting oranges only. Seeing Raghuji, other farmers turned to Narangi.

So many oranges grew on all sides that the name of Nagpur became Narangi Nagar.

Today, in Nagpur alone, oranges are grown in 205 hectares of land. And in the entire state of Vidarbha, only eighty thousand hectares of land is planted with oranges. How much Do you know ? Five tons of oranges meet each season.

Orange not only painted the entire Vidarbha state orange but also made it so economically prosperous that there was a need to set up a Vidarbha Economic Development Board.

Nagpur's oranges bear fruit in two seasons. In November-December and March-April.

There are so many varieties of oranges in Vidarbha that 'Maha Narangi Melo' is held in Nagpur every year. That is the great fame of the orange competition of the fair. The fair is all about orange, but the whole city of Nagpur celebrates the orange festival. In that fair, the glory of chaddol, costume, food and drink, magic game is true, but the orange is jammed. Fair-guests arriving by bus, cart or train from the suburbs are greeted with a sip of orange juice.

When all the oranges come, a bunch of oranges come out as if there is a god. Every village, every farmer, decorates their own orange chariot or orange lorry. In a way it's just propaganda but decorating is like watching Tampa. Take a look at the national parade!

The chariot of all these oranges goes to the orange vegetable market. There are heaps of oranges. Some mounds are actually very large.
