After that the boat was anchored on the bank of the river and both of them started sailing in Kalai Ghat near Rana Ghat. The ghat was inhabited by poor people. There were rows of slums. Hunger was seen swirling around.

Seeing the scenes of abject poverty, tears started flowing from the eyes of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Mathura Babu wondered, 'Why is Swami crying so much?'

Swami Ramakrishna, the supreme devotee of Kalimata, began to weave with enthusiasm.

'Hey mom! Why so ? You and your sons and daughters have to starve? Have to live without clothes? We have to live in so much sorrow. You created this world and all the misery in that world? '

Mathura Babu knew the mind of Swami Ramakrishna. I knew his immense compassion. He was acquainted with the stream of mercy flowing in his heart, so Mathura Babu immediately went to the city. Took new clothes and food for the poor. Came back to this poor population.

Even at that time Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa was speaking loudly.

Mathura Babu started giving food and clothes to the poor without saying anything. Gradually Ramakrishna Paramahansa calmed down and raised his hands and thanked him.

'Mother, you are the only one.'

This means that it is the duty of Kali Mata to give food and nourishment to the poor. That is the work of God. The most important thing in the life of any founder, great man or saint is compassion. Religion can only survive in a compassionate heart. Whether it is a temple or a mosque, a church or a derasar, all have steps of compassion. Lack of compassion is bestiality, experiencing compassion is humanity and turning compassion into active action is divinity.
