(Importance of Jaljilani-Lateral Ekadashi)

"People like festivals," says senior Kaviraj Kalidasji. Man is just fed up with the same life. Tired of life. Life is full of frustration and tension. So man should just join in the festivities and celebrate the festivities. Celebrating the festival removes the frustration that pervades life. Life seems fun. Most of the festivals and celebrations in the perennial come in the four months. During the Chaturmas, the temples resound with devotion. Devout devotees go to the temple and experience divine bliss by chanting.

Four consecutive months from Devashyani (Ashadh Sud) Ekadashi to Devuthi (Kartak Sud) Ekadashi are called Chaturmas. Chaturmas begins with Devashyani Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu sleeps in the ocean of milk so this Ekadashi is called Devashyani Ekadashi. Bhadarva sud- Ekadashi turns the Lord back. Hence this Ekadashi is called lateral Ekadashi. This Ekadashi is also called Jaljilani Ekadashi. And on Kartak Sud Ekadashi the Lord wakes up. Hence it is called Devuthi Ekadashi.

Tomorrow is Bhadarva Sud Ekadashi i.e., Jaljilani-Parshvarti Ekadashi so let us know what is the scriptural significance of this Ekadashi and enjoy this festival of Ekadashi.

It is written in the tenth chapter of Anantasahita of Pancharatra that, "On the day of Bhadarva Sud Ekadashi, God should anoint new water with 1001 kalash."

In the twenty-first chapter of the Narayan Samhita of Pancharatra, the Plvotsav is mentioned and it is described that, 'Build a pavilion on the bank of the lake. Then worship the Lord in that mandapa. Then worship them with Sahasradhara. To bathe the Lord with different kinds of water, to put on new clothes and ornaments, to put Thakorji in the boat, and also to put the saints and scholars in the boat and to sing Stuti-Kirtan-Bhajan. '

On the day of this Jaljilani Ekadashi, Lord Krishna went boating in the Yamuna with the Gopis. It is believed that since then, the idol of God has been flown in boats to celebrate.

It is also believed that doing Ekadashi of Jaljilani-Parshvati removes any pain. There was a severe famine in the kingdom of Suryavansh king Mandhata in BC. Then the people shouted for help. The king tried many measures but the survey failed. So he went to Angirarishi and expressed his grief. The sage bestowed grace and said, "There is a lot of sin in your kingdom, so there is a famine." Therefore, if you perform the Ekadashi of Parshvarvati in the month of Bhadarva by performing all the rituals, it will rain. Then it is said that it rained and the people were happy. Thus doing this Ekadashi removes sin, heat and anguish.

When Shri Swaminarayan Bhagwan was giving darshan in human form, he also did water sports many times in many places like Garhpur, Kariyani, Ahmedabad etc. Even if only the green of Sri Swaminarayan Bhagwan's water sports is heard, the pain of birth and death has been avoided. So wherever we can hear the green of God in the scriptures, we must take advantage of it.
