- Sardar Patel learns that Pakistan is also suing Junagadh after he took a militant stance on Kashmir issue

- When Sardar Patel showed timely diplomacy and told Raja Hari Singh's minister Maher Chand that 'I don't understand what Nehru told you to go to Pakistan'
"If Sardar Patel had been entrusted with the task of resolving the Kashmir issue, the whole of Kashmir would be under our control today." Every Sardar Patel Jayanti since India's independence, which is now celebrated as National Unity Day, seems to have become a 'fashion statement'.
Admittedly, Sardar Patel's historic contribution to India's integrity and unity was not as well-received as Gandhiji and Nehru after independence. Even in the syllabus, Sardar Patel's chapter was shattered by a burning armpit in his childhood, but he did not utter a word of pain. The question of five marks has gained as much importance as uniting the kingdoms and getting the title of 'Sardar' after Bardoli's Satyagraha. In states other than Gujarat, the contribution of national leader Sardar Patel is not even recognizable for him. Roads, buildings, monuments or statues in the name of Sardar Patel could hardly be seen in other states. After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced to celebrate October 31 every year as National Unity Day and undertook a world tourism project like 'Statue of Unity' in Kevadia. For Sardar Patel, a conscious effort can be seen to make the new generation across the country more and more aware.
Producer-director Ketan Mehta made the film 'Sardar' and Paresh Rawal did the best performance of his career. If Sardar himself had been present as an spectator, he would have turned his back on the creative power of Ketan Mehta and Paresh Rawal. But again it happened that the leaders, creators and spectators of other states of India did not bother to watch the film to appease Sardar Patel. Did not show special curiosity. The duo of Gandhi and Nehru is still ingrained in the minds of citizens and intellectuals across the country. In fact, as a trio, they were connected with each other's hearts and contributions.
A large section believes that the Congress has always been projected to be projected as Sardar Patel's hero. BJP leaders have said publicly that there was a tactical plan to marginalize Sardar and Subhash Chandra Bose in history. Sardar Patel deserved to be the Prime Minister of India and was accepted by the members of Congress but Gandhiji asked Sardar Patel to step down and keep Nehru ahead and due to his immense respect for Gandhiji Sardar Patel withdrew his name even though he was in the majority and Nehru became the first Prime Minister. Such occasions were not included in the syllabus. He persuaded the RG government for the amalgamation of 6 princely states and independence in Junagadh with the Sardar's Chanakya policy of sham, price, fine and discrimination. Nehru took the reins in his hands at the time of the Kashmir merger and the result is known to this day in history. All other citizens of India are not aware of the history that the citizens of Gujarat know as being the Sardar of Gujarat.
Let us now look at some excerpts from a similar historical documentary on Kashmir. VP Mann, Lord Mountbatten's political adviser, helped Britain prepare a bill on the terms and conditions under which India would gain independence. In the 19th year, Mann wrote a book called 'Integration of the Indian States', which has a paragraph on page 4.
On June 9, 19, two months before independence, Lord Mountbatten told Maharaja Hari Singh of Kashmir, "If Kashmir is ceded to Pakistan, your move by the Indian government will not be seen as a sign of loyalty to India." He then added to Viceroy Lord Mountbatten that "he has been assured of this matter by Sardar Patel."
Sardar Patel's then political affairs secretary V. Shankar wrote a book called 'Shankar: My Reminiscence of Sardar Patel' in 19. On its 14th page it says that 'Sardar Patel left the decision entirely to Raja Hari Singh whether Kashmir was merged with India or Pakistan. If Raja Hari Singh believed that Kashmir would merge with Pakistan and he wanted to do so, Sardar Patel would not interfere.
Such a note has been taken on the 9th page of Sardar Patel's book 'Patel a Life by Rajmohan Gandhi' published in 191 on the well-being of Kashmir.
Sardar Patel's cold response to Kashmir was only till September 15, 19. In a letter to Baldev Singh, India's first defense minister that day, he indicated that "if Kashmir wants to join another country (Pakistan), it will accept it." But that evening, as soon as he found out that Pakistan had demanded the annexation of Junagadh, Sardar Patel took a belligerent stance on the Kashmir issue. "If Pakistan wants the right to Junagadh, which has the largest Hindu population, why can't India demand Muslim-majority Kashmir," he said.
After that, according to Rajmohan Gandhi, Junagadh and Kashmir became issues of India's prestige and pride for the two Sardar Patels.
On page 8 of Sardar Patel's Shatabdi Granthmala-1, Jinnah writes about Mountbatten's attention during his visit to Lahore. ' It seemed, however, that Zina shamelessly demanded that Hyderabad, Junagadh and Kashmir should all be under Pakistan's control and adopted a grandiose approach. And Sardar Patel decided to teach Zina a lesson. '
However, addressing a crowd in Junagadh on November 17, Sardar Patel said, "If Hyderabad does not decide to merge with India as soon as possible, its cock will be as tangled as for Junagadh." Pakistan is using Junagadh to occupy Kashmir. Junagadh is ours but wants to do us a favor by making a deal that Junagadh should be given to you, you give yours in return for Kashmir. '
In Sardar Patel Shatabdi Volume-3, Editor GM Nandurkar has also recorded excerpts from the above discourse. There is an incident on the 9th page of Rajmohan Gandhi's book but nothing is clear from it so it can be called ambiguous. Which is as follows.
On September 12, Nehru submitted a report to Sardar Patel that Pakistan was preparing to deploy a large number of troops to occupy Kashmir. On October 8, a meeting was held at Nehru's residence between Nehru, Maharaja Hari Singh's minister Maher Chandan and Sardar Patel, in which Maher Chand pleaded with fear and desperation, "If you do not help us Indian troops in Kashmir, Kashmir will fall into Pakistan's hands." At this point, Nehru angrily told Maher Chandan, "Then go away." At the same time, Sardar Patel leaned in and said, "I did not order Maher to go to Pakistan."
Now the mystery remains that Nehru Meher was actually telling Chandan in a 'get out' tone that he had then signaled to Chandan Meher to move towards Pakistan. Sardar Patel recognized Nehru's ambiguous suggestion and warned Maher Chandan not to do any mischief.
Rajmohan Gandhi also writes that Sardar said that "the strategy adopted by India on the Kashmir issue will give serious consequences." Given the current situation, it can be said how far-sighted Sardar Patel was.
Sardar Patel termed the decision to hold a referendum in Kashmir, the idea of handing over the question to the United Nations, the slowness in expelling the Pakistani army and the decisions that led to the escape of Raja Hari Singh as foolish.
With Nehru at the center of these decisions, Sardar Patel became the hero. Sardar Patel criticized Nehru's decisions but had to admit that he did not give Kashmir any concrete formula to acquire India.
Sardar Patel did not have any bitterness between Nehru. The National Book Trust has published a book compiling letters written by Sardar Patel. Sardar Patel wrote a letter to Pandit Jiyalal Kaul Jalati (Assistant General, Jammu and Kashmir, June 17, 19) in which one paragraph was that 'political movement should be kept away from communal issues. I believe that Nehru himself is coming to Kashmir with a message of peace to come to an agreement. Nehru is a Hindu but he is also a Kashmiri Pandit. He is a leading patriot. Is the great leader of modern India. After all Nehru is also human. It can also lead to mistakes. Even as a human being, Nehru is of excellent quality. Whatever his actions and decisions are, he has a great spirit for his country. We hope that the Kashmir issue will be resolved soon. We must not be bitter with anyone. "
In a letter to Nehru dated October 6, 19, Sardar Patel clarified, "I feel that I have nothing left in the Kashmir issue. I do not know if there is any disagreement between us regarding the policy on Kashmir. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. I am also very sad about this. '
Rajmohan Gandhi writes that 'the Kashmir question was put to him by Nehru. But Sardar Patel wanted it to be handed over to him but it did not happen. So Sardar Patel used to express his views through his letters or to his political friends that he should be given the task of resolving the Kashmir issue but he never gave his own formula. If Nehru had handed over the Kashmir issue to him, he would not have announced what strategy Sardar Patel would have adopted. He once wrote to Achyut Patwardhan, "Let them settle the Sikh community there."
Importantly, they agreed with Nehru on most issues, including Kashmir. The Kashmir issue was not criticized with personal hatred of Nehru's move but he did not say what could be done. "We have spent crores of rupees in Kashmir," Sardar Patel told RK Patil, the first member of the Planning Commission, on September 4, 190. If we accept for a referendum, we will lose Kashmir.
Sardar Patel on June 3, 19 Dr. He wrote to Rajendra Prasad that "even if the Kashmir issue was resolved, Jawahar did not allow the Indian Army to move from Baramulla to Domel during the 18-2 Kashmir War and instead asked the army to move towards Poonch." Such letters indicate that not only differences but also resentments for Nehru will intensify, but there was no animosity for him.
In his speech on January 6, 19, Sardar Patel had sharply stated that India would have the right to Kashmir. He challenged Pakistan to "fight a direct war rather than a guerrilla war." If Kashmir wins by the sword, where do you start the referendum? We will not give even an inch of Kashmir to Pakistan.
Sardar Patel's resentment over Kashmir was against Pakistan but Nehru did not give him a central role in the Kashmir issue for mysterious reasons. Instead of saying that Sardar Patel had solved the Kashmir problem, he was suffering from the shock and helplessness of Nehru's policy. Perhaps history remembers the bitterness of the Nehru couple, so it is often suspected that they have stayed away from the contentious issues between the two.
However, how and when this unfinished chapter of Sardar or Nehru's time comes to an end is important for the present generation. Neither Lincoln nor Churchill were so great that the leaders of America and Britain do not say that they made this mistake. Lessons need to be learned from history. Correct the mistake and elevate it if there is a legacy of splendor. Books on history and self-character are half-truths or often outright lies. If a historian makes a book or a document to pre-establish interests, prejudices and to promote or cut someone off or to justify the ideology he believes in, it can be a great disaster for future generations.
Let us increase the pride of Sardar Patel by lengthening his line. Only citizens who are enlightened can appreciate someone's contribution.
