The second day of the ninth of Navratri is Aso Sud Dasham i.e. Dussehra. On the day of Dussehra, the arrogant and lord of Lanka, Ravana, was killed by Lord Rama. The long war between Rama and Ravana came to an end. The victory of Sur over Asura, the victory of truth over untruth means Dussehra. In Hindi, 'Dash Haralla' means Dussehra - Ravana's ten heads stood up one by one and finally Shriram shot an arrow in Ravana's navel and Ravana was destroyed.
Dussehra means the victory of policy over injustice. Ravana was destroyed by the arrow of Shri Ram and the arrogant, Tundmijaji Ravana was killed. Dashanan was disbanded. In small and big cities, idols of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are burnt during Dussehra. Ramlila is played at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi and idols are burnt.
The glory of the ten we have there is unique. Our fingers and toes are ten. The decimal system is also known. We deduct one tenth of our income which we put to good use. This is how we do the tenth part of the mantra-ritual, the tenth home.
The words come in Mataji's Aarti: 'Sacharachar Vyapak Cho, Dakhun Dash Dishe'.

Lankapati Ravana, the son of Vishrava and Kaikasi, was destroyed by King Rama, so was the demon clan like Ravana. Religion and policy were established.
On the day of Dussehra, people eat jalebi ganthiya, sweets, nuts etc. Healing is a sacrifice to God. Aarti is decorated in Ram temples. On this day it is customary to have sweets, sata, thor, mohanthal and other dishes. The day of Dussehra is auspicious. On this day, kinship-engagement, Vastu, auspicious start or inauguration of new business ventures are also done.
