When the devotee flowing in the stream of love moves through the dense forest, the rites of good-bad, sin-virtue and good or bad deeds done by him in his previous life become a big banyan tree and stand in his way as an obstacle. Because of those karmic rites, it is very difficult for him to proceed on the path of devotion. He tries to move forward but his karma samskaras stop him from moving forward and as a result he cannot be reunited with Parabrahm. The bondage of karma of his previous births prevents him from moving forward. His attachment to worldly and material pleasures stands as an obstacle in his path.
Shri Ram Sharma Acharya says that if the devotion of the seeker is sakam then he cannot proceed on the path of attaining God and in the end he returns to material attractions but if his devotee is nishkam, selfless then the bonds of karma are loosened. They cannot stop him from following the path of devotion. He achieves his goal easily. If the devotee is sincere and virtuous, if he has unique devotion to God, then he can move very fast on the path of devotion. Devotion with such a sincere and pure heart is dear to God.
God Himself desires to meet such a devotee. When Saint Tukaram could not go to the temple of Vithoba for darshan due to illness, the Lord Himself reached his house to give darshan to the devotee. When the sacraments of previous births are destroyed in the mind of the devotee then true devotion shines in him and such a devotee moves very fast towards his goal. He achieves his goal as soon as possible. Then Jivatma and Paramatma merge and they become one. Their Advaita is attained without being separated. Jiva and Shiva merge.
