When charity is announced, virtue is lost, yet why do donors put 'name plate'?

- Guftego - Dr. Chandrakant Mehta

- Selfish charity is hypocrisy. People use donations as a plane to heaven. Donations to gain respect are not in heaven but donations are a passport to vanity

Virtue decays when donations are announced, yet why do donors put a 'name plate'?

Man is born with nothing and is not going to take anything with him, that holy spirit inspires generosity. Man is the giver of earth, river is the giver, wind is the giver, sun god is the giver of light, cloud is the giver. Because they consider charity a duty. God does not give wealth only to save himself or his family, society, state, nation or world is a huge family. God gives man wealth to solve it. That is why it is said in the Atharva Veda that "Shatahast Samahar, Sahastra Hasta Sankir" - means to collect (wealth) with hundreds of hands and distribute it with thousands of hands. Man is tempted to donate in five ways. Religion, meaning, fear, work and compassion. But the one who immediately removes the memory of giving alms at a selfless price is an excellent giver. Charity should have a spirit of compassion, not egoism. Food donation is considered as Mahadan because it satisfies the hungry stomach and gives it strength. Vidyadan is even greater because it is a source of enlightenment, knowledge and lifelong contentment for man. But in all this, importance has also been given to 'Abhay Dan'. Protecting the refugee and giving him life is a great virtue. Donation should be given with a happy leopard, not me who is chewed, the one who has a little, the religion of giving alms does not fail even from the small, that is Mahadani.

Giving alms to the meritorious is of utmost importance. For example, the salt water of the ocean goes into the mouth of a cloud and becomes sweet. It is a blessing in disguise for all movable and immovable animals. Satisfying the whole earth, the water in the form of rain returns to the sea. Donation is great but believing that Dharmacharan is a God-given religion, donating keeps a person free from the feeling of giving fruit. That is why it is said in 'Jatak Katha' that neither I donate for the sake of fame nor out of the desire to have a son, wealth and national power. I am happy to donate as I believe that charity is a gentleman's religion. The gift given by the gift of fame is the subtraction from the book of virtue. Donations are also given by people with faith and compassion. Compassionate donations are the best. Donations are expected to be wary of character-disqualification. If you donate even a small amount to the right person, it will grow, but donating to the wrong person will encourage his evil deeds. Seeds sown on fertile soil become banyan tree but seeds sown in barren lands are automatically destroyed. Khalil Jibra makes important remarks about donations in 'Jeevan Sandesh': '' There are people who do not find it difficult to give. They do not even express the joy of giving and do not even have the idea that they give for virtue. Just as a fragrant flower robs the heart of its fragrance in ten directions. God speaks through the donations given by such (unattached) donors and the earth reveals its smile. It is good to give alms by asking, but it is better to give alms to a person in need without asking.

In fact, 'secret donation' is important. Donations are also not the subject of 'advertising'. But there is a dumb introduction to the enormity of the heart. Charity is a virtue of the heart, not a matter of intellect and hands. If you donate with the right hand but your left hand does not even know it then the donation becomes great automatically. Donations are not a means to an end. There are four types of donations described in 'Sthanang'. 1. Not even the speakers. . Some do not even take the name of giving. . Some donate without speaking and 2. Some don't even speak or give.

In the 13th chapter of 'Bhagavad Gita', Lord Krishna has discussed Satvik, Rajasi and Tamasi donations. 'Giving alms is the same duty, the alms that is given unselfishly without expecting reciprocity from a person who has not done favors to himself at a price that is right, country, right time and rightly received, is' satvik donation'. Here, the words country, time, character express the value that is given to the country and the time when it is necessary to deliver the desired happiness to all by donating the thing, given the right country and the right time is understood. Wherever there is a lack of something, the animal is entitled to donate there and at the same time, such as the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the poor, the sick, the afflicted and the frightened animals get food, water, clothes, sustenance, medicine etc. Excellent donation. It has been said that a gift which is given by stubbornly attacking someone or by showing fear or by giving up feeling sadness and sorrow in the mind without the pressure of reputable and influential people is considered as a charitable gift. But the expectation, that is, the intention to accomplish one's worldly work in return for the charity, is given with a vision of fruit, is a 'royal' charity. Donations that are made without hospitality or contemptuously in an inappropriate time and to a bad person are called 'Tapas' donations. The Bhagavad Gita believes that giving alms to a hypocrite, deceiver, perpetrator of violence, slanderer of another, eager to pursue one's own interests by stepping on another's livelihood, showing false humility, committing heinous deeds like stealing, adultery, giving to a thug or gambler is an evil deed.

Donation is a pure religion, even if it is admitted, it does not need to be associated with merit. Because it reduces the brightness and importance of charity. Charity is not a cure but a means to an end. There is no scope for conditions in donations.

'Do good and pour into the sea' is the infallible mantra of the sanctity of charity. It is his ignorance that man tries to make his name 'immortal' in the hearts of the people despite knowing that he is mortal. By placing benches on the road, insisting on associating schools-colleges and public institutions with his name, by placing his plaques or photos in the rooms of inns or orphanages, he tries to nurture the ego that man is a benefactor. Even the name of writing one's name on the steps of the temple will keep on treading on his feet from time to time. Sending greetings and goodwill to someone is also a kind of charity. But with the attachment of Yash, he puts up his own name plate, but in the course of time, we have before us many examples of seeing the plight of 'Name Plato'. A thinker named Beer has rightly said that under the white sheet of charity man hides his many sins. Giving half of one's own mouthful to another is the best gift.

People use charity as a plane to reach heaven, which is deceptive. Man succumbs to illusions, greed for prestige and ego and does not realize that selfish giving is hypocrisy. Donations to gain respect are not heavenly, but donations are a passport to vanity. Tukaram has said in one of his abhantras - Oh brother! If you can't give milk to someone, even if you don't give milk, it is okay to give buttermilk. If you can't donate food to someone, can't you even give water to the thirsty? Today there are no 'Bhamasha's', but there are countless 'Bhramashas' who know exactly the art of milking a donated cow. The great elements of nature are 'Mahadani' but they have not put their 'Name Plate' anywhere! Today, the 'brightness' of charity has diminished due to the belief that charity is a 'trick' of virtue. The rule of raga and the rise of renunciation-vairagya can never give true charity to the world.
