World Famous Wonder: Jumbo Elephant


This is what we jumbo any big thing. The word jumbo is derived from the name of a giant elephant that died in 181 AD. The jumbo elephant was born in 191 in Sudan. First the zoo in Paris and then the zoo in London. He was then sold to a circus in 19. Children used to ride on this huge elephant, which is four meters high, when they come to see the zoo. The children loved it. The decision to sell it to the circus in 1914 was strongly opposed by the school children. Jumbo dies after being struck by a locomotive in Ontario in 1918. His skeleton was preserved in the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
