Obstructive sleep apnea: a dangerous disease that can put Buppi Lahiri to sleep.

Following the death of musician Buppi Lahiri, the commonly neglected obstructive sleep apnea disease has come under discussion. Sleep apnea is a serious disease in which a person stops breathing for a few seconds and then resumes while sleeping.

The disease is more common in men. It is common for a patient with sleep apnea to have other diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity.

Dr. Juhu's Criticare Asia Hospital. Deepak Namjoshi said in a statement that music director Buppi Lahiri was suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and had frequent chest infections. I treated him. He was discharged from the hospital on February 19 after recovering. The next day after returning home, his condition worsened and he was taken back to the hospital in critical condition, but he breathed his last that night.

Bappida died of a lesser known disease called Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OAS). OSA is a sleep-related problem, according to lung surgeons who treat the disease. In it, the sleeping person's breathing is often interrupted. When a person stops breathing in their sleep, they do not even notice it. The patient may stop breathing for a few seconds to 1 minute.

There are many different types of sleep apnea, but the most common is OSA. The disease occurs when the muscles of the neck become loose during sleep and obstruct the circulation of air. Snoring is a blockage of air circulation during respiration, but not everyone who snores in their sleep has the disease. The obstruction in the upper part of the trachea in OSA does not carry air properly. Prolonged inability to breathe causes the oxygen level in the blood to drop and the patient dies. One of the causes of this disease is obesity and the risk increases after the age of 40.

Snoring is the biggest symptom of OAS. Other symptoms include daytime sleepiness, shortness of breath, dry mouth, sore throat, morning headache, difficulty concentrating, mood swings, irritability and high blood pressure. According to doctors, the disease can affect anyone, but obese individuals, the elderly, patients with hypertension, people with chronic nasal congestion, diabetics, smokers and people with a family history are at higher risk.
