- If meditation is done daily, it greatly increases attention span and memory power
In this age of competition everyone has a limited time of 24 hours. But it has unlimited syllabus to complete! One has to study with planning to meet it. For that, what kind of daily routine you make is important. Nowadays, in the age of social media influence, there is such a 'trend' that parents tell their children that the topper in this exam used to study for 18 hours, so do the same! That such and such a boy used to read at night, till four in the morning and passed, leaving the schedule of reading during the day and starting reading at night. Never even pass the topper by doing such blind imitation! It can be said that 'Toppers don't do different things, they do things differently!'
Academic Career Competitive exam preparation is like a marathon race, not a 100 meter race! Success depends on the quality of your reading - how much you understand, remember what you read. 6 to 8 hours of reading can give good success but 16 to 18 hours of poor quality reading does not give any benefit. Most of the toppers read regularly for 6 to 8 hours daily. But sometimes if the exam is near then you can study for 10 to 12 hours or more as per the requirement. Work-life balance is essential for good quality of studies. Get regular sleep of 7 to 8 hours daily. Follow your bodyclock. Read it during the day or at night it is secondary. But keep daily reading time, nap time, meal time as regular as possible. Meditate for 15 minutes every day. Scientific studies have shown that two decades ago, the average person's attention span was 13 seconds. That is, someone can maintain his focus on an unknown object for so long. After the advent of mobile phones, this time became 8 seconds. Today the average person's attention span is no more than 3 seconds. But if meditation is done daily, it increases attention span and memory power a lot.
Plan reading and rest properly. According to psychological studies, the human brain cannot focus on anything for more than 45 minutes at a time. Hence time allocation between reading and break should be rational. Read for 50 minutes and take a 10 minute break in reading for 7 hours a day. If you do this for 7 hours a day, you can read about 6 hours. Or read for 25 minutes and take a 5 minute break
Even if you do it 14 times a day, it will work. Insist on reading 42 hours a week.
Revise each reading book/notes 3 times before exam. As per 3R technique do the first revision within 24 hours after studying or studying in the classroom. Do another revision in a week. Keep Sunday for revision for study done from Monday to Saturday. Do the third revision in the last one month before the exam!
Any habit is hard to change. But according to psychological studies, if you follow any routine for 21 days, it automatically becomes a habit! If you make these changes in your current daily routine and follow it with determination for 21 days, it will become an automatic habit. All the best...!
