At the time of Diwali, when the whole house is cleaned, the housewives wash the floor at last. However, now the time has passed when soapy water was poured on the floor and then washed with water and then wiped off. Especially in the cities, this tradition has almost ended. One of the reasons is that different types of flooring are installed in flats in big cities. And not every type of flooring can be washed with soap. Here the experts tell how to clean the flooring.
Vinyl:
Vinyl is the most popular of the different types of flooring. The reason is that it is very easy to maintain. A soft brush or a vacuum cleaner can be used to clean such floors. If you want, first wipe the floor with a soapy cloth and then wipe it twice with plain water. Just doing this will make the floor shine.
If shoe stains occur on this flooring, immediately wipe with a sponge soaked in soap and then twice with plain water.
However, baking powder and vinegar will be needed to remove the rust stains on it. Sprinkle baking powder on the rust spots and leave it for a few minutes. Then dip a cloth in vinegar and rub it on the stain. When the stain is gone, add two cups of plain water.
Ceramic:
Ceramic flooring is also not particularly difficult to clean. Washing it with hot water also cleans it quickly. Of course, before washing with hot water, remove the dust stuck to the floor with a vacuum cleaner or a broom.
A microfiber mop is the easiest to clean ceramic tiles. If there are nail polish stains on such a floor, then it gets removed with nail polish remover. While ink or dye stains require bleach. Dip a clean cloth in the bleached water. Now place it on the respective stain. After a few minutes, move the cloth and see if the stain is gone or not. If the stain is removed, immediately wipe it with a cloth soaked in plain water. If it doesn't come off, keep the bleached cloth on the stain for a few more minutes.
Wooden:
Wooden flooring gives the house a lot of beauty. But its maintenance is a bit difficult. Use only commercially available wooden flooring cleaners to clean wooden floors. You cannot wash this floor with soapy water. If you get foot or any other stain on it, clean it immediately. Do not use any product with wax on it. Likewise, apply leg protectors to every piece of furniture in the house. Otherwise, the wooden flooring will wear down immediately when the furniture is moved. Similarly, use a vacuum cleaner or a soft broom to clean it. However, for the maintenance of wooden floors, it is a good option to spread rugs or carpets over it.
Experts say that there are many types of wooden flooring available in the market today. So the best solution is to check whether it is stain resistant or not while buying it. These floors do not get stained. Otherwise, use a well wrung out cloth for daily cleaning.
Marble:
The marble floor looks very beautiful. Today, apart from white, light pink or brown marbles are also available in the market. So after you get the marble flooring of your choice, make sure to polish it.
Fresh water is a good option for cleaning marble floors. Yes, don't forget to use vinegar or acidic detergents on this flooring. Doing so will dull its luster.
If the marble flooring is stained by fruits or juices etc., remove the stain with a cloth dipped in ammoniated hydrogen peroxide water. Optional: Use a terrycloth cloth to clean it.
If you have marble flooring in your home, clean it immediately as marble absorbs stains immediately. Leaving the stain for even a few minutes will not remove the stain or it will remain permanently.
