Laughter: Laughing gas

During the riots in Shahr, the police used tear gas to disperse the crowds. This tear gas irritates people's eyes and causes tears. Similarly, if a gas called nitrous oxide is inhaled, a person starts laughing. That is why it is called laughing gas. Laughing gas is colorless and transparent. It does not appear as smoke. It is sweet in taste but poisonous. Nitrous oxide is a greenhouse gas and damages the environment. It is used in rocket engines. It has 310 times the opposite effect of carbon dioxide. Heating ammonium nitrate produces this gas and releases water vapor. It is used in many industries.
