Metamorphosis

Greta was now tired of taking care of Gregor. He now realized that Gregor's life was a burden on every member of the family.

Drifting Story : 'Metamorphosis' means transformation, metamorphosis. One in which appearance, position and nature are all changed. A metamorphosis from a caterpillar to a butterfly. Change is inevitable in life. But here everything changes when the hero of the story becomes a monster. The author does not say outright whether this is a cockroach or an animal of the rat family. That's just a giant bug! The characters of the story are also shown as father, mother or sister. Yes, the sister's name is Greta but then the story refers to her as Sister. So the whole story is told from the point of view of the narrator Gregor. The point is that Gregor has undergone a complete transformation. And the story is not difficult. It also has a sense of humor. It is a tragicomic depiction of the real situation.

Traveling salesman Gregor Samsa wakes up in bed one day to find that he has transformed into a large vermin. He looked around the room but everything seemed normal. But the rest of the survey found this very strange. Her sister Greta, however, was taking great care of her.

Gradually, Gregor became obsessed with her changed body. Now in fun and fun, he used to climb the walls and hang on the roof. When his sister Greta found out about Gregor's favorite pastime, she decided to move some of the furniture around, so that Gregor would have more flexibility to do this sport(!). But when the sister and mother actually started removing the furniture, Gregor found their activity very disturbing. now forward)

Gregor did not like this. He was afraid that if this happens, he will forget his past, he will forget that he too was once human. He didn't want to be a big bug forever, and so he tried to stop the changes his sister and mother were making in his room. One of his favorite portraits, a photo of a girl wearing a fur hat, fur scarf and fur muffler, hung on the wall. When an attempt was made to remove it, it climbed the wall in protest. His mother fainted when she saw him clinging to the photo frame and hanging down. Greta then called out to Gregor. It was the first time after his physical transformation that anyone tried to speak to him directly. Gregor then ran out of the room and into the kitchen. When his father returned home from his new job, he realized something was wrong. They assumed that Gregor tried to blackmail his mother. His father threw apples at him one after another, and one of them landed on Gregor's back, breaking his back. Gregor, though Yanken somehow managed to get to his room, was now seriously injured.

Gregor's family now kept the bedroom door open every evening so he could see his family, listen to their conversations. He saw that the financial condition of his family was now very bad. The reason was this form of change and the new poverty that resulted from it. Now even Greta, his sister who was usually supportive of him, seemed to despise him. Now she did not take special care of her transfigured brother, she only made the minimum effort to feed him or clean the room. Now his family hired a cheap part-time maid who tolerated Gregor's appearances and spoke to him occasionally. Now all the three members of the family i.e. father, mother and sister started going to their respective jobs. Gregor's room was now being used more as a store room. For Gregor, the procedure became very distressing, boring or painful. Gregor now had a taste for the food that Greta brought him and almost gave up eating.

The door of Gregor's room was left open and he could hear his family talking less often now that they rented out one of the rooms in the house to three men. The tenants had no idea about Gregor and his form. That was hidden from him.

One day, the maid, who came to work for a while, forgot to close the door of Gregor's room. And then the tenants were sitting in the living room. Greta was playing the violin before them. There, Gregor crawled out of his bedroom and into the living room. The three tenants are initially intrigued by Greta's violin playing, but then grow bored. But it was Gregor who was mesmerized by his sister's music. Meanwhile, one of the tenants noticed Gregor. And they were shocked. Gregor's father begs them to go to their room but they protest and declare that they will vacate the room immediately, without paying the rent for the duration of their stay as the condition of the room here is disgusting, it is disgusting. They also threatened to take legal action in this regard.

Greta was now tired of taking care of Gregor. He now realized that Gregor's life was a burden on every member of the family. He said that now we should get rid of it. If not, we will be ruined. His father agreed with him and said that he wished Gregor could understand this and leave the house on his own. Gregor understood this of course. He decided to die now, so that the family would be relieved of the task of taking care of him.

And the next morning he died. He died of starvation. His dead body was found by the maid. He informed the family members and disposed of the bodies. Everyone in the family felt a real sense of relief at Gregor's death. The father evicted all three tenants. The maid was also fired. All three family members took a day off from work. They took a tram and went for a walk in the countryside. During this time they reviewed their financial situation. They decided that they had enough money to buy a nice little apartment. During that short trip to the countryside, the parents also noticed that Greta had worked so hard to take care of Gregor, his face had turned pale, but now his strength and freshness had returned. She was changing into a curvy beautiful girl. The parents decided to see a good idol and marry him off.

Introducing the creator

Franz Kafka

Born: 3rd July, 1883

Died: 3 June 1924

Franz Kafka, a German-language writer of short stories and novels, is held in high esteem in twentieth-century world literature.

Last week's article on the author's life and writings was based on the writings of his college friend Max Broad. Broden first noted that those who met Kafka found Kafka to be shy by nature, speaking very little, but what he did say was full of deeply poignant knowledge. Kafka himself had a lifelong suspicion that his personality was not popular. They are unattractive, mentally as well as physically, in the eyes of those who believe them. But it was not so. Broad notes that all those he met were impressed by his knowledge, admired his sense-of-humor, and admired his physical attractiveness despite not being particularly handsome.

Most of his literary works remained unpublished during his lifetime. As he died, he instructed his friend Broad: "Dearest Max, my last wish. Burn all that I leave, my diaries, my manuscripts, letters (both written by me and those addressed to me by others), sketches and such, burn them unread.' Broad, of course, ignored his last wishes and published his works of literature between 1925 and 1935, which today are considered classics. In the thirteenth century, the creator of the epic 'Divine Comedy' was the philosopher turned poet Dante. Famous English American poet W. H. Auden honored Kafka as the Dante of the 20th century, while novelist Valdamir Nabokov called him one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Kafka's literature has influenced almost all branches of art. Not only plays, films, dance and ballet have been made from literature, but also many sculptures, paintings and computer games have been made based on his literary creations. Today we are no stranger to virtual reality games. The present story was made into a game in 2018 from Metamorphosis. How would we feel if we really did become a monster? How do we live, fight? - Virtual reality! There is still a lot to say about Kafka but now and then..
